Demystifying wedding dress silhouettes—All you wanted to know about different wedding dress styles

If we say that finding the perfect wedding dress is as challenging as finding the perfect groom, will you agree?

The wedding fashion scene presents an overwhelming variety of options in wedding dress. This, of course adds to the excitement of dress shopping; however, wait till you set foot in a bridal shop, and all this variety will only add to your confusion.

Nevertheless, you must find a way out and reach your goal—a “dream wedding dress” perfect for the most special day in your life! And for this you must know what your options are and direct your attention to choices most suitable for you.

Clever brides know that the wedding dress search begins with choosing the right wedding dress silhouette.

So, join us as we explore this first step in detail. In the coming sections, we will look at different wedding dress silhouettes and identify which of these is best for you based on your body shape.

Let us begin!

Chapter 1: Wedding dress silhouettes—how are they different from regular clothing?

Wedding dresses are very different from regular clothes in the following ways

  • They are complex garments that have internal boning and other special elements like corsets and heavily layered fabric. These features hold the gown up by creating its structure and shape and allow it to drape perfectly. You will rarely see these features in regular clothes.
  • Most wedding dress silhouettes involve intricate and elaborate details like embroidery and lace appliques. This type of fine work is often hand-embroidered.
  • The fabric used in designer wedding dresses is of high-quality, expensive and made of the finest fabrics.
  • Look closely at any designer wedding dress. You can see the impressive quality of work at each level. Everything from how the seams are made to the definition of details will be impeccable.

This video will help you better understand the extent of work that goes into the construction of a wedding gown.

See how much effort it involves?

So, wedding dresses are very different from any other garments!

Now, let us move on to the key factor that differentiates different wedding dress styles—the Silhouette!

By silhouette, what we mean is the shape that your body has when you wear the dress. Wedding dress designers follow certain basic structures when designing wedding dresses. Although there is a stunning variety in style aspects like neckline, sleeves, fabric and length, there are only a handful of wedding dress silhouettes.

Recognize the wedding dress silhouettes that flatter your body type best and your search for the perfect dress becomes much easier. We will tell you why in the coming section.

Chapter 2: Importance of wedding dress silhouettes in your search

We already told you that the silhouette is a defining factor of a wedding dress, which is basically the shape that your body achieves when you wear a certain gown.

Since there are just few wedding dress silhouettes, you can use this as the starting point for your wedding dress search. Identify the dress silhouettes that suit your body type and appeal to your taste and it will be easy to narrow down the rest of your search criteria.

Let us look at this with an example.

Say, you decide to go with the ball gown silhouette. So, this is your first search criterion.

When you convey this information to your bridal consultant, she will only bring you ball gowns to try on. This eliminates the need to explore other silhouettes. Such a focused search will save you time and effort.

Except for the highly unlikely situation that you do not find a single ball gown that you like, you need not even pay attention to any other dress style.

Chapter 3: Types of wedding dress silhouettes

Let us now move on to decoding each wedding dress silhouette in detail. For this, we will discuss the defining characteristics of different silhouettes as well as the pros and cons of each style.

The first one on the list is the ball gown.

Ball Gowns

Think fairytale, and the ball gown is the first style that pops into mind!

The ball gown is a silhouette that says ‘bride’ so very clearly. Synonymous with the princess look, it is opulent and dramatic.

Ball gowns always feature a fitted bodice, defined waistline and full skirt. The contrast between the top and bottom halves of the dress is what makes this silhouette very dramatic.

These dressy gowns are created in fabrics like silk, taffeta and tulle and the skirt is structured to hold a fancy, bouffant style. Ball gowns feature different necklines and sleeve styles, as the ballooning skirt can hold its own against any elaborate or simple bodice.

If you want a dramatic and striking look without much effort, the ball gown is the perfect choice. You will have no dearth of options as there are ball gowns with tiered skirts, ruffle details and stunning embellishments in the hemline or scattered in the skirt. This style looks good on most body types, and hence is a safe choice.

Modern versions feature illusion bodices, striking back details and crisp lines that add flair to this classic silhouette. When fashioned in shantung or dupioni silk, the look is polished and sophisticated.

This dress style works just great for weddings in the cooler months, since it offers ample coverage and keeps you cozy under layers of fabric. When your silhouette is as dramatic as a ball gown, you need few other accessories to complete your wedding day look.

Who should avoid ball gowns?

Ball gowns are not the best choice for brides who are petite or curvy. Petite body structures tend to be swallowed by the elaborate layers in a ball gown. Similarly, curvy brides will look fuller when they opt for this silhouette.

Still unsure? Visit this post for more reasons on why the ball gown is an amazing choice.

Here are some sample ball gown styles from our collection to inspire you.

A-line and modified A-line

The very name of this wedding dress silhouette is self-explanatory, isn’t it?

The easiest way to identify an A-line dress is to check whether it resembles the shape of a letter A. A-line gowns have a fitted bodice and waistline and open into a full skirt beyond the waist. This makes the silhouette look like the letter A.

This style is classic and elegant and is suitable for both formal and casual wedding themes. The A-line skirt is also very versatile, and works well with any neckline and sleeve style.

Now, there is a variation of the A-line that is very popular. It is the modified A-line, which is very similar to the classic A-line, except that the dress has a fitted bodice and waistline that continues down to the hips. It flares into a full skirt only beyond the hips, thus defining the natural curves of the body better than a regular A-line wedding dress silhouette.

The modified A-line is the perfect balance between the classic A-line and mermaid. It defines the shape better than an A-line, but allows easier movement than the mermaid.

A-line silhouettes are universally flattering choices, that look good on most body types. Hence it is a very popular choice among brides. Here is a video that explains the shape and structure of the A-line silhouette in detail.

Here are some of the diverse choices in A-line wedding dresses from our collection at Best for Bride.

 Trumpet

The trumpet is a wedding dress silhouette with a straight bodice that continues down the waistline and hips. The skirt begins at mid-thigh and opens out into a flared shape that resembles a trumpet. The flared skirt is easy to move around in.

The straight shape of the top-half draws attention to the stomach and hip area. Hence it is a good choice for women with slender waistlines and delicate figures. Brides with a curvy figure can accentuate their curves with a trumpet silhouette.

However, if you have a full figure, we believe this may not be the ideal choice since it further enhances your natural curves and draws attention to less desirable areas of your body.

You can find trumpet dresses with all types of necklines, sleeves and interesting features. Watch all that we just discussed in the video below.

Here are some trumpet dress silhouettes from our collection.

Mermaid

Do you want a sexy, stylish and stunning wedding dress silhouette?

Then, the mermaid is the best choice to consider. It has a fitted bodice that closely fits the natural curves of the body all the way down the waistline and hips. The silhouette flares out into a dramatic and full skirt below the knees, creating a stunning effect.

The fitted style of the mermaid makes it suitable for curvy brides who like to show off their natural shape. It is not the best choice for brides with bulky waistlines and hips, since the shape highlights these areas.

Don’t worry if you find yourself confused between the mermaid and fit and flare. Both wedding dress silhouettes have similar shapes and it isn’t always easy to distinguish between them. However, there are differences. So, look for the following.

  • The bodice in the fit and flare gown is straight while the mermaid features a fitted bodice that closely curves along the natural body shape.
  • The skirt in the trumpet silhouette usually starts at mid-thigh while the mermaid skirt flares out further below, at knee level.

Here are some mermaid dresses

Fit and Flare

Like the mermaid and trumpet, the fit and flare silhouette also has a fitted bodice and a full skirt. However, the difference here is that the skirt flares out gradually, beginning at the waistline. In the case of the trumpet and mermaid, the flaring of the skirt occurs much below, at thigh or knee level.

The fact that the fit and flare silhouette has a skirt that gradually flares out makes it comfortable to move around in. Hence it is convenient to dance, walk around or climb stairs in it.

The fit and flare dress looks good on brides with slender waistlines. Since it draws attention to the waistline and bust, it can also be worn by brides who wish to distract from their hips and legs.

Here is a video to demonstrate the difference between the fit and flare, mermaid and trumpet silhouettes.

Let us now look at some examples of fit and flare dresses.

Sheath

This is one of our favorite wedding dress silhouettes, as it is simple, classy and elegant. The sheath silhouette follows your natural body shape from top to toe. It doesn’t have any defined lines and simply flows over your natural body curves.

The sheath is very simple with a straight structure. It does not have multiple layers like other dress styles. Nevertheless, the simplicity of this dress style is its strongest feature.

Sheaths are also known as column-dresses. They look great on straight figures, as they create the illusion of curves. Sheaths are also good for brides with defined waistlines and brides who wish to flaunt their curves.

For more information on this wedding dress style, watch this eHow video.

Chapter 4: Wedding dresses and different body types

We just looked at the different wedding dress silhouettes that are available for brides.

So, when you go wedding dress shopping, do you try dresses in all available silhouettes?

That certainly wouldn’t be a sensible idea!

Unless you limit your options, your wedding dress search will never end. And for this, you should first identify your body type and then find the best wedding dress silhouettes for it.

So, let us first look at how to evaluate what body type you are.

How to identify your body type

Where body shape is concerned, there are four categories:

  • Apple or inverted triangle
  • Pear or triangle
  • Hourglass
  • Rectangle Straight

To recognize which of these you belong to, first measure yourself around the bust, shoulders, waist and hips. Then compare each of these measurements against each other to find out which body type you are according to the following instructions.

  • If your shoulder measurement is much greater than your hip measurement, you are an Apple.
  • When your hip measures more than your shoulder and bust, you are a pear or triangle.
  • If your shoulders and hips measure pretty much the same, and your waist measures smaller than both these measurements, you are an Hourglass.
  • When the measurements of your shoulders, hips and bust are similar, you are a Rectangle.

This comparative method should give you a fair idea of what your body shape is. However, you can also follow the more detailed process in our guide to correctly identifying your body type to analyze your body shape.

Alternately, refer to this post for detailed instructions on how to correctly identify your body type.

Once you recognize your body shape, most of your work is done! It is now easy to find the wedding dress silhouette that best enhances your positive assets.

So, let us move to this step.

In the coming section we will look at the different silhouettes that are best suited for each body type.

Chapter 5: Best wedding dress silhouettes for each body type

Now, let us look at the different wedding dress silhouettes for each body type and understand why it is suitable. We will also look at the dress styles you to avoid for each body type. Here goes!

  • Apple or inverted triangle

If you are an apple, your upper body dimensions are larger than those of your lower body. So, you have broad shoulders and less curves in your lower half.

Based on these characteristics, the ideal dress silhouettes are those that balance out your broad upper body by adding bulk to the lower body.

Dresses that flare away from the waistline, thereby concealing slight hips will achieve this effect. Also, silhouettes that pull the upper half in and define your waistline better will flatter you.

Here are the recommended choices:

A-line: Hide your slender hips and legs under an A-line skirt that flares out at the waistline. The larger the skirt, the better it will balance out your upper body.

Ball gown: These dresses have heavy skirts that can camouflage a slender lower body. The thick skirt also creates a defined waistline that adds the illusion of curves, thus enhancing your figure.

Avoid fit and flare and trumpet dresses since these emphasize the larger proportions of your upper half.

  • Pear or triangle

Pear-shaped women have larger dimensions in the lower body than in the upper half. So, your hips are wider than your shoulders, and you are small on top.

The best wedding dress silhouettes for you will show off how little you are on top, while hiding the larger proportions of your hips. These would be dresses that either hide the hips or flare away from the waistline, camouflaging their larger proportions.

We recommend the following

Ball gown: The full skirt of these dresses and defined waistline will draw attention to your slim natural waist. Your thicker hips will not be obvious under the naturally puffy skirt of a ball gown.

A-line: A-line dresses with skirts that do not cling are good for pear-shaped women. These balance the proportions in either half by flaring away from the waistline and hiding the natural shape of the body beyond the waistline.

Sheaths and trumpets are two silhouettes to avoid. The sheath emphasizes your natural curves and draws attention to your lower body. Trumpets draw attention to the stomach and hip area with their straight lines, and this will not work in your favor.

  • Hourglass

The characteristic feature of an hourglass shape is well-balanced upper and lower halves and a defined waistline. So, your hips and shoulders will be quite the same size and you will have a beautiful curvy structure.

The balanced proportions of both your body halves makes it easy to carry off any wedding dress silhouette. Since there are usually no features to hide, you should show off your curves to look more fashionable. Here are the silhouettes that achieve this effect.

Mermaid: This wedding dress silhouette shows off your natural curves and hence is one of the best choices for hourglass figures. You will look stunning in the well-defined curvy shape that draws attention to your slim waistline.

Fit and flare: You can carry off fit and flare gowns with details like a dropped waist, ruffles and textured bodice with perfect style. This silhouette also accentuates your naturally curvy figure, showing off your best assets.

Sheath: The straight shape of the sheath plays up your natural features, making it a wonderful choice for hourglass figures.

  • Straight

With similar proportions in both the top and bottom halves, your waistline isn’t obvious when you have a straight shape.

When choosing wedding dress silhouettes, look for dresses that create the illusion of curves where there aren’t any. Also look for dresses with bodices that pull in the upper half and create a more defined waistline.

Here are the best choices

Ball gown: This dress has a slender bodice and a full skirt, that creates a full figure by itself. When brides with a straight shape wear this silhouette, the longer and straight proportions of their upper body balance out by the larger proportions of the skirt.

Sheath: The benefit of this silhouette is that the straight appearance creates an illusion of curves in the lower body. As a result, your body shape will tend to look curvier than it actually is.

A-line: A-line dresses with a defined waistline and full skirt also look attractive on rectangle body types. This dress style creates a full look at the waistline and beyond, thus adding more dimension to your lower body.

If you are a rectangle, avoid wedding dress silhouettes that accentuate your straight structure. Stay away from trumpets, mermaids and fit and flare silhouettes that closely fit.

Trends we love – Classic Features in modern wedding dresses

The most romantic wedding dresses harmoniously blend timeless elegance with contemporary style. When traditional favorites are reinvented with modern touches, the result is astonishingly attractive. Wedding dresses have evolved in terms of silhouettes, necklines, sleeves and hemlines over the decades. Nevertheless, it isn’t uncommon to see interesting trends from the past being reused in wedding dress fashion now.

With more and more brides opting for vintage style wedding dresses, but updating them to suit their modern taste, one thing we know is that our favorite features will never be lost forever.

Today, we will discuss about how old meets new in the world of wedding dresses. We will visit some of the beautiful designer dresses from our collection at Best for Bride, that bring together contemporary styles with timeless classic features. These dresses will appeal to both the modern bride and the bride who favors classic styles for her wedding. So, take a look and don’t forget to tell us which of these are your favorites when you are done.

Fishtail gown with V-neckline

The mermaid style fit and flare gown is a current favorite with many modern brides. This silhouette allows them to flaunt their beautiful body shape on their wedding day. The characteristic feature of the mermaid gown is that it clings to the body, and draws attention to every natural curve. So, this silhouette is anything but traditional. When it is paired with strapless necklines, the result is often an ultra-modern and extra stylish gown that only a confident bride would be comfortable in. The V-neckline on the other hand, is a timeless favorite. The length and depth of the V has often varied, and it is possible to both look modest or show off your decolletage and cleavage with a beautifully designed V.

The Mori Lee 2823 from the Spring 2016 collection is an elegant masterpiece that has both the modern fishtail feature and the timeless V-neckline. With thin straps that support the neckline, and an embellished bodice that scintillates with crystals up to knee-length, it is a statement gown. Find out more about this beautiful dress and take a look at how it is from various angles, at this link.

Ball gown with illusion neckline

The illusion neckline is a recent entry into the wedding fashion scene, and ever since it made it’s appearance, brides have accepted it with open arms. The thin sheer layer of fabric that barely conceals the skin that lay beneath it, gives rise to breathtaking effects. This is what makes this feature a winner. Many modern designers make the most of illusion details by extending it to beyond the neckline, the  into sleeves and back as well. It is often seen as a combination that is modest and sexy at the same time. Ball gowns, on the other hand, have always been an age-old classic style. At Best for Bride, we often notice how mothers want to see their daughters in elaborate and heavy ball gowns on their wedding day. On most cases, the bride disagrees (sometimes vehemently!) to this idea. We’ve seen many heated debates and tears at such dress selections where opinions clash. The Mori Lee 2818 is a gown that would be perfect for both parties, in such a scenario.

While the neckline and illusion cap sleeves are sexy and mysterious, the ball gown is still there, although a little less poufy than in the traditional way. Even so, it will be favored by the older generation. Crystal beaded embroidery adorns the bodice and extends into the skirt in tiny clusters here and there. The illusion layer sits atop a stunning sweetheart neckline, that is bound to be a favorite with the modern woman who wants subtle glamour. This dress is just right for a formal church ceremony, and the best part is that the bride will not feel weighed down in a heavy skirt with more layers than is actually necessary to get the shape right. The beautiful illusion details also continue into the back, with a wide V-cut framing the intricate beading at the back. For more details about this dress, check this link.

Princess seams and illusion neckline

Princess seams were details added to the bodice and skirt of wedding dresses in yester-years, so it looked tailored to the bride’s actual measurements. These rounded seams added definite structure and made the dress look fitted. However, it was often a style that extended continuously from the bodice, all the way to the skirt. Adding an illusion neckline and ornate embroidery details on the bodice can add an innovative touch to this classic element, and make it much more interesting.

The sheer bateau neckline and sleeves continue into a pretty sweetheart bodice decked with intricately woven lace details. Artistically placed crystal beading enhances the beauty of the gown, by adding sparkle to the waistline and decorating the lace applique above it. The satin skirt, in contrast, is simple but lustrous and luxuriant, as it softly glides down to full-length.

Fit and flare dress with lace details

Lace is synonymous with vintage, and a favorite with brides of all generations. However, it is not often suitable at modern weddings, and is usually preferred for traditional style weddings. However, lace is an element that can do wonders to the bridal ensemble, when chosen properly. It renders itself suitable for any style of wedding, when used in the right doses and paired with the right features. When lace appliques tastefully adorn a fit and flare gown, it can be stunning and the onlooker will have a hard time deciding whether the dress is more contemporary or classic.

Another ravishing beauty from the Mori Lee Spring collection, the 2807 is a gown that adds a touch of timeless elegance to the most modern design. The fit and flare silhouette is embellished from top to toe with fine Alencon lace appliques, and the embellishments on it extend all the way to the sheer train. The dress has a snugly fitted scalloped sweetheart neckline supported by scintillating shoestring straps. The back features a daring deep cut that gathers into a train of fabric buttons that run all the way down to the derriere. Alencon lace appliques frame the back and are truly mesmerizing. Fit and flare dress with tiered skirt

Tiered skirts were a big thing in the 1910’s and they perfectly fit the picture for a vintage-inspired wedding. Fit and flare silhouettes, on the other hand, are a contemporary fashion feature. Combining the two together gives you an unusually appealing combination of old meets new, with no compromise on style or elegance. With the fit and flare silhouette, the upper part of the dress allows a bride to show off the figure she is proud of. The lower part that has the tiered skirt, gives the dress an unexpected twist that can also tie it to a vintage theme.

The Mori Lee 2810 from the Spring 2016 collection features both the elements, and also has elaborate lace details that make it a work of art. The gently scalloped lace details on the hemlines of each of the tiers creates an exquisite overall look for the dress. Additionally, the entire silhouette upto knee length contains beautiful Alencon lace details created with finesse, and the sweetheart neckline makes it glamorous too. Find more pictures of this splendid gown by visiting this page.

Draped bodice and A-line pick up skirt

Many fairy tales have featured pick-up skirts, but this feature was always associated with ball gowns. The pick-up style later disappeared from the scene. It has reappeared now, but this time with a modern twist that is more charming and appealing. The characteristic rolling up of the skirt at specific points, which made it look heavy and difficult to manage, is now updated in an A-line silhouette style. This considerably reduces the volume of the skirt, instantly adding a touch of sophistication to it. When the bodice has a ruched style, with gentle pleats coursing over the torso, there is an almost seamless integration of the bodice with the skirt. The effect is stunning.

This imarvelouslous dress in a modified A-line silhouette with the pick-up skirt detail being its most spectacular feature. A sparkling waistband defines the end of the bodice, which drapes around the body in gentle pleats. This design instantly adds extra inches to a bride, and is a beautiful gown with its strapless soft scoop neckline and simple, but luxurious details.

Lace gown with full-length illusion sleeves

Illusion designs have not only braced the neckline, but we often see them on the back and sleeves too. Although the original illusion styles were relatively simple, with just a thin layer of fabric over the chosen area, lace appliques and motifs are more elaborate today, making them splendid works of art. Most wedding gowns with illusion necklines feature cap sleeves, or are sleeveless. However, illusion full-length sleeves have a breathtaking beauty, as you will soon see. When this feature on the sleeves is combined with the traditional vintage element—lace, in the body of the gown, the dress is happy harmony of old and new.

Beautiful full-length illusion sleeves with exquisite beading along the length of the sleeves almost look like a bolero over the ruched sweetheart neckline and bodice. The entire gown is created in lace over satin with the dress featuring a draped design all the way from the bodice to the end of the skirt.

A-line silhouette and plunging sweetheart neckline

The A-line dress was one of the first design innovations in wedding gowns, introduced soon after women started shedding corsets and dressing up in garments that embraced their natural body shape. Since then, the appeal of this silhouette has only grown. It still continues to be a favorite among brides, with the simple pattern helping them create a sexier look with the illusion of curves. The strapless bodice, has also been on the scene for a while now, but modified sweetheart necklines with a plunging section in the center are a novelty, that only bold brides are ready to consider. However, when the silhouette with long sleeves is updated with the strapless plunging sweetheart neckline, the result is a gown that is glamorous, interesting and most of all, stunning.

The Y11639 Kyla from the Sophia Tolli collection shows us how magnificent this combination is. This figure-flattering gown almost snugly fits the torso all the way to the hips, from where it gently flows into a modified A-line skirt. This modest design is contrasted by the plunging sweetheart neckline which goes deep down in the center, albeit with a modesty piece. The dress features a corset-back, but don’t worry about it shrinking you in with it’s tight grip. It is nothing like the corsets women in the Victorian ages wore! Beading and intricate crystal work throughout the length of the gown make it picturesque. You can have a closer look at this gown by visiting this link.

After all, you get married only once and you deserve to feel like a royal princess on this special day in your life.

Planning the fairy tale wedding of your dreams isn’t too difficult when you have plenty of ideas to inspire you. Here are some magical fairy tale-inspired ideas for your royal wedding. Take a look and let us know what you will choose from them, for your wedding.

Ideas to inspire your fairy tale wedding

An invitation card that radiates timeless romance

Give your wedding guests a sneak peek of what they can expect at your wedding with a lovely fairy tale theme invitation. Don’t you just love how this “Once upon a time” invitation card ties to the theme? Small details like the header for this invitation are all it takes to have your invitation reflect the style of your wedding. (You can order this invitation at this link.) If your wedding is inspired by any particular story, find an invitation with motifs or colors that are specifically linked to this tale.

Search for the right castle

A royal wedding takes place at a castle, and you need the right setting to feel like a princess on your wedding day. Whether you are in Europe, the USA, Canada or any other part of the world, there are no dearth of castle venues for you to pick from. You can even find lists of suitable venues on the internet, like in this post on the Knot website.  If booking a real castle is out of the question, you can create a similar scene by choosing a suitable venue and dressing it up with the opulent decor. Explore beautiful banquet rooms, hotels, stately mansions and resorts to find the right choice for your budget and theme.

Plenty of flowers

The perfect fairytale wedding will have elaborate floral decor. Fill your venue with plenty of flowers, and they will create the effect of grandeur, not to mention romance. Light pastel colors like pale pink, yellow and white will look stunning in such settings. You can also go with the theme colors of your fairy tale in your floral decor, to match it to the theme. So, golden yellow blooms for a Beauty and Beast wedding or vivid red roses for a Snow White theme wedding would be just perfect. Mix your floral decor with stunning crystal and glass accents for more impact.

Plenty of bling

This is the perfect theme to go big on bling. Whether it is your venue decor, table linen, party favors or even the dress and accessories, make a statement with lavish touches of gold, silver, and other metals. While gold creates an expensive and deluxe ambiance, silver and rose gold have the sophistication and romantic charm. Pair the metallic accents in your decor with saturated colors or neutrals to create a refined look.

Shimmering shoes

Sparkling shoes are an accessory that will make you feel like a princess in no time. Pick a pair of gorgeous heels that is sure to impress any princess. Don’t hesitate to choose one that is gold or silver, as this is the best opportunity to shine and dazzle to the most. As you dance the night away, the occasional peek of your dainty feet from beneath your gown will be very impressive with beautiful shoes adorning it. Or if your favorite fairy tale is Cinderella, find a glass slipper to play the part to perfection.

Gorgeous napkins and coasters

Impress your guests with your attention to detail with small touches like beverage napkins and coasters that tie to the theme flawlessly. These white coasters with beautiful lettering in gold that is meaningful as well can instantly add a flourish to your table settings.

Similarly, take a look at these beverage napkins with the “happily ever after” that is just right for your chosen theme. The fact that the lettering is done in gold further enhances the effect of this essential table decor element.

Beautiful bridal hairstyles

Princess-inspired hairstyles are anything but simple. Whether you choose an elaborate chignon or a dreamy intricately braided hairstyle, don’t forget to top it off with the perfect hair accessories. A flower crown will instantly enhance your look, while you can choose dainty hair bands, pins or combs for a touch of sparkle. If you really want to make a statement, you can even go with a royal tiara that will easily tie to this wedding theme. Remember that all fairy tale heroines have luscious locks. So, aim for that effect when you choose your wedding day hairstyle.

A stunning fairy tale cake

The wedding cake gives you plenty of opportunities to use your creativity and find different elements that match the theme. Either aim for simple elegance with naturally colored elements like flowers, fresh fruits, and berries or go for classic sophistication with a magnificent sculpture. Beautiful accents like sugary pearls, frosted roses, bows, and ribbons are all ways to create an opulent effect. Play up the theme to the maximum with a big cake with plenty of interesting tiers. Also, choose flavors that are classic and luscious for a beautiful effect.

Make your entrance in full-style

How you arrive at your wedding will receive a lot of attention from your guests. So, make a worthy entrance in a horse-drawn carriage, and it will be grand and memorable. It will also be a grand experience for you. Opt for a vintage-style carriage and it will suit the theme perfectly. Also, make sure your charioteer is in full costume, and that the chariot is decorated with flowers and ribbons to complete the effect. Use plenty of fairy lights and lanterns to illuminate your venue

Twinkling, little lights will instantly transform any venue. Pretty lanterns are also beautiful decor elements. They will enhance the beauty of your venue and tie to the fairy tale theme. Another benefit of this item is that it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor venues. Whether you choose a woodland theme or a royal castle theme, soft lighting in the location of your choice will transform the space and help you achieve a beautiful effect.

Cute little flower girls

Little girls will love your fairy tale theme just as much as you do. So, why not give them a role to play in your wedding and remember the experience even more fondly. Have your flower girls in pretty princess dresses or lace frocks, and add cute flower crowns or tiaras to their outfit. Dressed in pretty layers of tulle, they will look like fairies right out of your storybook. Not to mention how much they will enjoy the role. You will be their favorite real-life princess and they will be a delightful addition to your wedding scene.

Dramatic lighting

Add an enchanting touch to your reception space with dramatic mood lighting with different colors that wash over the room. Place your light sources strategically, so they enhance the effect of the decor pieces and bounce off sparkling tablescapes. Chandeliers and other crystal accents will also help your venue look opulent and magical. You can consider using images of the moon and stars in your backdrop to create a beautiful effect. For a real fantasy effect, hang lanterns from the ceiling with thin strings so it looks like it is floating in thin air.
