Perpetual Rhythms Entertainment
I have been a professional DJ and MC for over 40 years, far longer than almost any DJ service in Canada. This experience means I’ve seen what others have not yet, and know what to do in any situation.
My technical background is based on my degree in electrical and acoustics engineering, putting technical expertise at the wedding, not back at the office. I own the best sound system in the business. Every other DJ bought the fad, and 100% of them are fundamentally designed to fail without notice. I don’t understand how DJs chose to know so little and refuse to learn the technical stuff. Instead, they plug and pray (not a typo). Our system can fill a space with twice the coverage at half the loudness, so guests stay in the room and not disappear to the lobby, killing the dance floor energy.
We bring a full backup of everything – enough gear to run another event, in another room, at the same time, and we’ve done it twice when the other client’s DJ didn’t bother to show up. We own our equipment outright. We don’t rent. Other DJs rent or have old, worn equipment or their DJs go to a warehouse to grab what they need, only to find broken cables, etc., as reported to me by more than one of the DJs working for the other companies on your list. If real clients knew only the truth!!! We maintain our gear in mint condition and never stress it; leave it in a trailer (subject to temperature/moisture damage). We are licensed and insured, which most DJs are, but it bears mentioning for completeness.
While our music library is as updated as to any other DJ, with more new releases in a week than we could play all night, we differ from other DJs in that we promote and play up to 100% requests before we even pick one song. The notion of reading a crowd is so ridiculous. No one can look at a guest and know what music they like. Our process creates engagement, participation and ensures the guests hear the music they want to hear, not what some ego-headed DJ thinks they want. I don’t buy this idea, and since we started, this has worked better than any pre-planned playlist of crowd reading. Most DJs ooze confidence or at least ego disguised as confidence. They’re the star of the show. No us. The client is the star. We facilitate their event to be a guest, not micro-managed and worried. This attitude creates a very different feel for the client, bride and groom, corporate event team, etc. It matters how THEY feel, not us. When something happens, ego fails, where actual knowledge and experience come to the rescue. 9) Many DJs are desperate, owing in part to COVID. W are financially resilient and able to maintain our equipment, music, license and insurance despite doing 25% as many bookings as 2019. As such, many DJs grab any booking they can, at any price. Sadly, they underprice, underdeliver, or under cost and find a better booking and subcontract. We know this because I’ve worked for many DJ companies who call at the last minute looking for help when they knew they couldn’t make the booking since they took the booking. We don’t take this “Grab and Hope” business model. Our clients book us because, among 40 reasons, we commit, regardless of price or scope, because it’s a matter of integrity. We meet our clients in person. Some of these DJs are purely online, so clients book with colossal risk misled to believe the DJ company is in Toronto, when in fact, they are based in another province! If only they knew.
