Say yes to these rules and stay away from wedding planning stress

double-665158_1280

Planning a wedding is no easy feat. Gone are the days when the options were limited, and you had to only choose from one or two choices and be done with it. With a plethora of options in wedding dresses, venues, wedding styles, flowers, caterers, invitations and more, brides can easily find themselves stressing out over the wedding planning. So, we thought we’d bring you this set of rules to follow and stay sane during this intensely stressful time. Read on and be prepared to handle it right

#Rule 1

I will stick to the budget, no matter what

Yes, it can be tempting to throw in an extra stash of dollars to get that designer dress, or go with the florist’s recommendation to add those imported delicate flowers to the bouquet and make it just “perfect.” Just remember that “perfect” is how you define it. You can have a perfect wedding even on a shoestring budget if you are content with what you choose. So, stick to what you can afford and don’t splurge. Decide that whatever you find within budget is good enough, and it will be just that.

#Rule 2

I won’t listen to others for the sake of making them happy

Your friend who has started her own baking venture may want to do your wedding cake, or your cousin may have requested to be your wedding photographer. It is also likely that you have friends or relatives who suggest that you do the wedding like they suggest. Keep your cool, and go with what they suggest only if you are convinced it is worthwhile. Unless your friends or relatives are professionals who have worked at weddings previously, don’t take on their offer for fear of offending them. If someone tries to force their preferences on you for your wedding, say you’ll think over it, but stick to your decisions. If these people genuinely care about you, they will understand, no matter what you decide.

#Rule 3

I will not stress over perfection

Everyone wants the best, but when you begin to obsess over it, you lose all the fun of wedding planning. So, don’t be worried if you can’t find the perfect colors for your wedding décor, or if you have to settle for plans that are not exactly as you anticipated. Be flexible with your plans and keep your expectations realistic, you will find wedding planning a lot more relaxing.

#Rule 4

I will be happy with how I look on my wedding day

So, you wanted to shed several pounds before your wedding, or had decided to get a few facials but couldn’t find time. Remember that you will be beautiful, no matter what. You may not even remember this plan to shed weight, when you think back over your wedding years later. So, don’t obsess over what you couldn’t do. Instead, go forward with optimism and you will enjoy your wedding day as you ought to.

What is important today may seem irrelevant tomorrow. So don’t dwell on what could have been, or whether it would be better if done differently. Just go with the flow, relax and enjoy things as they happen.. All that matters is that you have a great engagement and exciting wedding.

Is your wedding dress the perfect fit? Here is how to find out

Finding your dream wedding dress is only half the deal. To be the bride you always wanted to be, your dress should fit you perfectly. One that is too tight or loose can totally spoil your look.

So, this article is all about the various factors that make sure your wedding dress fits perfectly. Let us begin.

Choose the right size

via Best for Bride

This is crucial to make sure that your wedding dress will be perfect after alterations. Do not choose a dress that is more than two sizes bigger than your actual size. Another thing is that however certain you are of being much slimmer when you walk down the aisle, buy a dress that currently fits you. When you do lose those extra pounds, you can take your gown in; but if you don’t you’ll end up with a gown that will be uncomfortable and tight.

Does it allow you to move?

This is a very significant question. Wedding dresses can be heavy and when you choose a silhouette such as the trumpet, your movement will be restricted to a great extent. Imagine how it will be if you have to dance through the night when you can barely walk in your gown? Or worse, how exhausting will it be if you have to climb a staircase in a gown that clings to you? Consider the venue, the practicality of the dress and whether you will have trouble moving around the room in the dress you choose, before you commit to it.

Can you breathe in it?

This is very important if you intend to choose a dress that is smaller than your actual size. When a dress size is smaller, it is small all over. So, you will have a dress with not only a smaller bust and waist, but also one that fits more snugly. Remember that you will be wearing your wedding dress for several hours, and so you should be comfortable in it.

A tight dress that feels as though it is about to snap isn’t the ideal choice. The bodice should fit snugly, but it shouldn’t be too tight that your skin feels pinched. Similarly the skirt shouldn’t be so heavy, that you will be exhausted dragging it along. If you think it is so, check whether you can have a few layers taken out and whether the gown would still look good. Make sure your dress has enough allowance so you won’t feel too uncomfortable in it when you are done with dinner and dessert.

Get the length right

One of the most embarrassing things that can happen is to trip over your wedding dress and fall. Unfortunately, hundreds of brides have ended up having such mishaps, mostly because they didn’t get their wedding dress length right. To avoid this mistake, wear your wedding shoes to your fitting sessions and get your dress hemmed at the precise length that will allow you to walk comfortably without tripping over. An experienced seamstress will know how to do this correctly.

Great options for green wedding favors

Weddings are not very environment friendly events. Even so, there are certain ways in which we can limit our contribution to the carbon footprint of our wedding. One such way is to use green and eco-friendly wedding favors. There are plenty of options out there, and with a little effort we can give our guests great mementos of our big day, without it costing the planet.

Here are some interesting options that you may like to look at.

Edible wedding favors with natural colors and ingredients

Everyone loves some sweet indulgence after the party. Present your wedding guests with fantastic cookies or sweets made from natural ingredients to relish, once they are back home. Forget the plastic wrap on each of them. Instead, pack them into little drawstring bags made from environment friendly materials that haven’t been bleached or dyed. Not only will you have a rustic looking wedding favor, it will be reusable too.

Give back to the earth with seed wedding favors

Seed wedding favors are all the rage now, and can be presented in different forms, shapes and sizes. Personalize the chosen seed packets, which should ideally be made from recycled paper or seed paper; and gift these sachets to your wedding guests. If your guests do not have a green thumb, encourage them to try their hand at planting with these thoughtful gifts.

Potted plants and succulents

Even the smallest plants in pretty pots can make a huge impact. While lucky bamboos are the all-time favorite, you can also gift flowering plants or succulents. The best part about succulents is that it is a low-maintenance plant, and you wouldn’t hear anyone complaining of having to take care of it. Opt for clay pots, glass tumblers or terracotta flower pots for a purely green choice. For an added effect, consider decorating it with burlap or jute strings and attach a Name tag done in seed paper.

Personalized cork coasters

Everyone can use a coaster or two. So, make this your eco-friendly wedding favor. Print an interesting message or personalize the coaster with the details of your wedding day and gift a pair to every guest at your reception. You could choose from several different shapes, including round, square, diamond and oval.

Honey and preserves

Your guests will love to take home a small jar of good quality honey, or sweet preserves in little mason jars. Mason jars have a natural, simple and earthy look. So, all you have to do is deck them up with a few strands of burlap or rope and add a name tag in recycled paper or seed paper. When choosing the honey and preserves, it would be appropriate to go with organic choices, so your choice is a sustainable one, all the way through.

A bunch of flowers with long stems look naturally charming, but may seem a little incomplete. To add more finesse to the arrangement, all you have to do is trim off the excess length of the stems, and secure it with the most luxurious silk ribbon that matches your color palette. This is a very basic floral bouquet design, but one that is just right if your bouquet contains vibrant and lovely, large flowers which are attractive on their own, and do not require too many additional details. While securing the ends of the ribbon, it would be a good idea to use decorative pins in a row, to give it an attractive finishing.

Satin ribbon bow

For a compact round bouquet of flowers like roses, consider wrapping the stems with a double sided satin ribbon bow with a luxurious silky finish. You can tie the two ends into an elaborate bow, and add small details like button roses or little crystal brooches on the streamer.

Wedding brooch bouquets

Not only will this have sentimental value, it will also be a choice that renders a unique touch to your bouquet.

Patterned cloth trim

If your wedding theme incorporates patterns like chevron, geometrical prints, polka dots or stripes, add the same details as the trim for your wedding bouquet. It will be a perfect addition to the décor, and the brighter the color, the more attractive it will be against your white wedding dress.
