How to add color to your bridal outfit

The traditional wedding gown is white, and it is an eternal favorite that is difficult to replace. You can always choose a colored gown if you want to defy tradition, but let’s face it, nothing says you are a bride, like a white wedding dress.

Nevertheless, you may wish to look unique on your big day, and create a statement look with something that sets you apart from the hundreds of other brides you see everyday. And, color is the way to do it. Just a few doses of color in the right place will enhance your wedding day look, and here are our suggestions on how to do it right.

The extent to which your shoes will be on display on your wedding day will depend on the length of your dress. However, there is no denying that a colored shoe adds personality to a wedding outfit. How about choosing a blue shoe, for your something blue? Or, if you have a colorful palette, match your shoe to the colors in your décor, and it will blend in perfectly.

Colored Wedding dress linings

Add a colorful shadow to your white wedding outfit with colored dress linings or an underskirt. This article on the Offbeat bride introduces the idea of colorful bridal petticoats in crinoline for the perfect pop of color in your bridal outfit. This works perfectly with a short hemline, and would add a stunning casual vibe to an informal wedding. Don’t you think it will work great at an outdoor garden wedding? It isn’t overwhelming, but is very interesting.

Bright bridal jewelry

You options include: emeralds for green, turquoise for blue, quartz for pink, garnet for brown etc. Or go for bright chunky necklaces and bracelets if your wedding has a colorful theme with bright tropical colors. Accessorize to match the colors in your wedding theme, and you will have just the right accents for your wedding dress. Choose your hairpieces with these colors, and imagine how beautiful your wedding photos will be.

Colored waistbands

Colored satin waistbands were one of the hottest bridal trends on bridal shows for 2015-16. Neutral colored waistbands were featured with pure white wedding dresses, and trust me when I say the effect was stunning! Why don’t you add this simple, but stunning addition to your wedding wardrobe, and make your wedding dress more attractive. Match it to the color of your bouquet, or to the other colors in your wedding palette.

Colorful stole, wrap or jacket

Suitable for cool weather, this is an idea that will allow you to sport the all-white look at your wedding ceremony, and then add an interesting element to your outfit in your wedding photographs. Perfect for strapless and sleeveless dresses, choose your warm wedding accessory in a bright color that goes well with your wedding palette, and you will have a versatile option that keeps you warm while looking great too.

No-fail ideas to keep kids busy at your wedding

Many couples prefer not to include children in their wedding reception. It could be the difficult task of keeping them occupied, or the worry that they will cause too much distraction. So, if you have a list that includes these young guests, you are being very considerate.

Having young children attend your party means more planning than before. Nevertheless, many wedding parties involving children have happened without many hiccups, and you can do the same at yours. All you need is to plan some entertainment to keep them engaged throughout the evening; give them great food, and they should enjoy it just as much as the other guests. Here are some ideas to try at your wedding, so the little ones are engaged and have fun.

children

Plan a play space

You cannot expect children to sit still, and enjoy a serious party like adults do. If you do, they will simply squirm and whine, and spoil the fun of the party. So, plan a separate space for the children, which will be filled with activities to keep them busy. Art-and-craft centers are favorites, where they can entertain themselves. Just make sure that you go with options that aren’t messy, and there is plenty for all of them to indulge in.

Appoint a babysitter and/or hire an entertainer

While most of the parents will manage their tiny tots, at least a few would appreciate the chance to engage in some conversation and enjoy themselves in the other activities at your wedding. This wouldn’t be possible without the help of another responsible adult, who can manage the kids. Consider hiring the services of a babysitter or two, to attend to the children. If there are quite a number of children from different age groups at the wedding, set up an entertainment plan for the kids and hire a professional who can either put up a show or plan games for them. Face painters, clowns, comedian, puppet artists and magicians are always loved.

Plan their menu carefully

If most of the kids are very young, seating them down to a five course meal wouldn’t be a good idea. Rearrange the menu choices and throw in child-friendly food choices, when planning their meal. The service should be such that they will not be forced to wait. Substitute gourmet adult food choices with those that kids love, in their menu. You can also consider sending out a few options, and having parents choose what the set menu. This will eliminate confusion, and they will get what they are most likely to enjoy.

Make arrangements so they can rest and nap

If the guests are really young and your reception is in the evening, they will most likely be tired and sleepy before the evening is over. Take this factor into consideration and make arrangements for them to rest or nap comfortably, should they require it. This will allow their parents to relax and enjoy the evening, without disrupting their child’s schedule.

With a little planning and preparation, you can easily make your wedding party child-friendly. And, don’t forget that kids love gifts. So, choose some awesome party favors. For more wedding tips and advice on planning your lifetime celebration, visit us on Best for Bride.

Our guide to the right outfits for a beach wedding

beach wedding

Is a beach wedding a casual or an elegant affair? What will be the appropriate attire to wear on your beach wedding, or to one that you’ve been invited to? These are few questions that both the wedding party and the guests have, when the wedding venue is a beach.

The natural setting has a casual vibe, so formal wear is ruled out completely. But, you should put in a little more effort than you would when dressing up for a regular beach outing, when you have to attend a wedding. The idea is to strike a balance between semi-formal and casual.

So, we decided to simplify the dress code for these weddings. Read on to find out what attire would be suitable for the couple, bridesmaids, groomsmen and the guests at a beach wedding.

The bride

We strongly believe that a bride should wear a wedding dress she loves, whether she gets married on the beach, or in a banquet hall. Unfortunately, not all dresses are practical for sandy shores. A heavy dress is impossible to carry in warm, sunny weather, and you could trip on one with a long train. The functional choice would be a bridal dress in breezy, light fabric. It shouldn’t weigh you down, and shouldn’t restrict your movement. Nor should it feel too warm. Accessorize to dress up a simple dress, or choose one with embellishments in the bodice if you want a dressy gown.

The groom

beach wedding

Substitute the traditional dark tux with a lighter shade. For a casual wedding, consider a three-piece suit, or spruce up your look with a colored or checkered shirt. Eliminate the tux altogether, if you want a cool, casual vibe and are planning a Boho wedding.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

For a refreshing look, choose pastel colored dresses in light fabric like chiffon or georgette, for your bridesmaids. Shorter hemlines are appropriate for the beach, and floral accessories are just perfect for the natural ambiance. Three-piece suits in light shades are the trend in groomsmen attires. Stay away from ties and work more towards a semi-formal look to keep it appropriate.

Wedding guests

Guests usually have the toughest time deciding what to wear. The look should be effortless and casual, but not too simple. Although the venue is the beach, it is still a wedding. So, our suggestion is to aim for casual elegance. Summer dresses in light fabric are a winner for women. You can choose a pretty patterned one with simple embellishments, or choose a monochromatic look. Choose natural earthy accessories made from stones and shells, and keep the bling to a minimum, so you don’t look out of place. Male guests can wear slacks and semi-formal shirts. Both groups should stay away from t-shirts and jeans, as this is in no way appropriate wedding wear, however casual the wedding may be.

Now that you know what is the right attire, all you have to do is find it. Look no further than at Best for Bride for the perfect wedding dress, breezy romantic bridesmaids dresses and outfits for wedding guests.

5 reasons why we love illusion necklines

Dreamy, feminine wedding dresses are always a favorite. Illusion necklines are a fantastic trend that add a beautiful touch to even the simplest wedding gown. There is something endearing about a white gown with delicate details like lace on sheer fabric. It is both sexy and classic. It is no wonder that more and more brides prefer this design in their wedding dresses.

Here are five reasons why this fashion trend is one of our favorites.

#1 It is a superb option for women who dread strapless designs

Not every bride is comfortable in a strapless dress. Although it may look great, strapless wedding gowns are not high on comfort. The neckline may shift and unless it is perfectly fitted, a bride may keep tugging at it and look uncomfortable throughout the day. Illusion necklines allow brides to carry off the strapless style with a supporting element that is both stylish and beautiful. So, it is a strapless, with straps; could it get any better than that?

#2 Illusion necklines are subtly sexy

You can be sexy without exposing any skin, and this is one trait of illusion necklines. Illusion necklines add instant glamour to your bridal look. Not only do you look more sexy because of the sheer layer, it is a tasteful choice that is appropriate for almost any type of wedding. The demure bride’s femininity is played up and her charm is enhanced manifold with this pattern. Gowns that feature illusion work at the back as well, are a sight to behold. Sheer fabric in the neckline and back instantly make it more sexy, and render a picture-perfect charm.

#3 Illusion necklines eliminate the need for a necklace

The details of these dress necklines are usually so fantastic, that you do not need a necklace to draw attention to your neck and decolletage. Not only can you thus save hours of time searching for the perfect necklace, you can still sport a one-of-a-kind look. For the simpler versions, where the neckline is just a sheer fabric layer without embellishments, you can pair it with a necklace and dress it up.

#4 Illusion necklines suit both mature and young brides

The sheer layer of an illusion gown may be paired with any neckline on the bodice. There are options that end high, or plunge generously at the cleavage. There are enough options in all silhouettes, fabric and designs to suit every bride, whether she is in her twenties or forties, or is slim or curvy.

#5 The details on sheer are fantastic, but not overbearing

The beauty of this neckline is that it brings together fantastic details that subtly enhance the beauty of a gown. When the details are on a sheer layer, they are more visible, and classic. The same details that would look overwhelming on a thicker fabric gown, look pleasant on an illusion neckline. Sparkling accents can be kept to a minimum or used suitably, and it can still look picture perfect.
