We met two years ago in the Fall when we co-lead a canoe trip for some Rec and Leisure college students and then hit it off the following winter. Our first date was at our camp YMCA Wanakita where we x country skied across the lake to a frozen waterfall, in some bright 80s onesies. Since our first date, wearing 80s gear for our anniversary and special occasions has become a bit of a thing. On October 11th of this year, we were working on our newly purchased home when Matt suggested that we should go down to the Falls near our house for dinner since we hadn't done that in a while. Once we were done, he came out of the house wearing his onesie. "Let's make it a onesie date!" he said so there I go putting on mine and looking ultra hot in a purple and green high waisted suit. We drove down to the Falls, collected all of our picnic gear and walked down to a spot on the rocks. But Matt had forgotten the cups, so he asked me to head back to the car to collect them. On finding the cups in the car I noticed they were stashed in the same spot that I had just collected my shoes from so I was a little suspicious but more confused why he hadn't seen them there! So here I go in my onesie and holding a bunch of stuff from the car (looking ridiculous) and walk down to where we were. I stopped immediately in my tracks... underneath his ski onesie Matt had been wearing a suit. And here he was standing there amongst candles with some boxes on the ground with mumford and sons playing in the background.. I was for the most part in shock and he told me I had to open the boxes one at a time in whichever order. They ended up saying "Will... you... marry" (which I got in the right order woohoo!) and then he said there was one more box and got down on one knee with the ring and the note saying "me". I couldn't even read the note properly because my eyes went blurry! The rest is history and we spent the evening with a couple of drinks in the cups and giggling about the whole thing. It was perfect. I also realised he had proposed on exactly 2yrs after we had met on that canoe trip.
