Allyson and Eion's proposal story - Birthday Surprise

We met in high school and have been dating ever since. We knew from the beginning that eventually we would be spending the rest of our lives together. Here's how it all happened:
The proposal was months in the making and a very well-kept secret from Allyson. It was Allyson's birthday and she had no idea how eventful the night was going to be. She knew we were going out to dinner but after seeing the weather she wanted to order in and stay home. It was cold, and had started snowing heavily earlier in the day. She was also a bit upset that no one had spent time with her earlier in the day. Eion claimed he had laundry to do, among other chores. Allyson never liked to make a fuss over her birthday but she had a higher expectation that having to spend it alone watching Netflix. What she didn't know was that Eion had planned a surprise birthday party at one of their favourite restaurants and had actually spent the day running last-minute errands and decorating the place (and yes actually doing a load of laundry also). The most difficult task of the day wasn't hiding everything, but it was convincing Allyson to leave the house and get to the restaurant for the big surprise. Very reluctantly Allyson went along to the restaurant and was shocked when she walked through the doors and saw all her family, friends and all the decorations. The night progressed, everyone enjoyed dinner, and mingled. Eion had it all planned and had a calm demeanor even though he was a little nervous. After the birthday cake was cut, Allyson learned that the cake stand could light up. She was then instructed to crouch down to plug the cord into the electrical outlet. When she stood up, the cake had been moved and she was completely shocked to read "Allyson will you marry me?" in bright lights from the cake stand. There Eion was, down on one knee with the most beautiful ring. After complete disbelief and a bit of freaking out, Allyson realized Eion was still on his knee waiting patiently for an answer. Allyson said yes! The room was then filled with many cheers and happy tears. |
