Once Upon a Time...
On a trip to Walt Disney World my fiancé told me the day we were going to leave after a wonderful 4 day vacation that I needed to pack everything up and trust him. After a wary glance in his direction I gave in. We got in the car and he directed me around the Walt Disney World property without really telling me where we were headed. About 10 minutes into the drive I noticed we were following signs that said "Walt Disney Worlds Contemporary Hotel"! Trying to hold my smile I couldn't believe it. There was no way possible he would have booked this hotel without me knowing and there was no way we could ever afford this hotel! He did know though that this was my DREAM to stay here ever since I was a little girl! This hotel is so special because it has rooms that overlook the Magic Kingdom and truly creates a one of a kind magical experience if you stay there. You also have to give up an arm and a leg if you want to stay in one of those rooms... Well sure enough I turned a corner and my fiancé directed me into the parking lot of the Contemporary! I nearly cried. He said "Surprise! We are staying another night in Disney AND it will be here!" I couldn't believe it. Now, keep in mind that I had no idea what was going to come out of this night. My fiancé had a very severe stroke 4 years before this and although he was making an amazing recovery he still has to wear a brace on his leg and his left side is very weak. This prevents him from sitting on the floor and kneeling down. Just keep that in mind. Anyway, We pulled up and checked into our room and when I walked in I noticed that this was a Magic Kingdom view room! From our balcony it looked like I could just reach out and touch the castle! I felt like a true princess! He had planned the rest of the day with reservations at a very nice restaurant for lunch and then a restaurant at dinner. I was so happy by the end of the night. We were walking around the hotel when he suddenly looked at the time and said we have to get back to our room! We rushed to the room and he said the balcony was a private viewing of the Wishes fireworks over the Magic Kingdom! (I recommend anyone to watch these fireworks from the Contemporary! Truly amazing!) Well to shorten this story, we were standing out on our private balcony on the 10th floor with the Wishes fireworks music playing from the TV while we watched it over the Magic Kingdom. Halfway through when the musical interlude came on, there were fireworks in the sky shaped like hearts. he started telling me how much he loved me and then reached into his pocket. He pulled out the ring box and got down on one knee! I was completely shocked and surprised! not only was I not expecting the proposal at all but just seeing him get down on one knee completely blew me away! Apparently he had been working on getting down on one knee during his physical therapy sessions and he or the therapist never told me! After I said "yes!" And he put the ring on my finger and we hugged the entire rest of the fireworks show. He truly made me feel like a princess that day! And to my surprised when we got home, he had filmed the entire proposal without me knowing also. So now I can watch our fairytale over and over! Engaged on October 27, 2014 Getting married on January 23, 2017 in Walt Disney World! |
