One day after he got off work, he asked if I wanted to go to my dad's tree. My father died when I was 14 and and we spread his ashes around a certain tree, at which he loved spending his time. I was really touched that he wanted to go meet my dad for the first time, even if he couldn't physically meet him. After we finally got dressed (he had told me he wanted to take me for dinner after), we made our way out to where his tree was. Once I pointed out exactly where is it was, we walk over, and I started to cry. After wiping away my tears, he pulled out the ring. In front of my father's tree, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Even though he could never ask my dad for permission to marry me, he brought me as close as he could to ask.
