My Fiance and I have been dating for 8 years before he decided to 'pop' the question. I'd been bugging him leading up to the proposal as to when he would propose to me. His response was always 'one day.'! My dad passed away 7 years ago, so things, especially around Christmas time, has been pretty rough for my family and I.
On December 24th, 2013, nothing felt different. I woke up, went to work for half day, just like every year, and then off to my grandma's house for Christmas Eve Dinner. Each year, we attend midnight mass as a family. This year was a little different. After mass was over we were on our way home, my Fiance dropped us (me, my mom and my sister) off at my house for the night. Just as I was about to close the car door behind me, he told me that he had left something in my basement, and asked if I can quickly go in through the garage to grab it for him. Huffing and puffing my way to the garage door, I agreed. Just as I was about to open the garage door, something caught my attention as well as my moms. We looked up towards the sky, and saw a shooting star; never in my life had I even seen a shooting star! We both looked at eachother startled! Something that we still to this day cannot explain made us turn our heads. I then turned around, and saw my fiance down on one knee with the ring in his hand, and a giant wood sign that he made out of 462 christmas lights! The sign was so bright that it lite up my street! The shooting star was my dad's approval; i'm sure of it! Before I can catch my breath, I said YES! And here we are getting married on 12/13/14 (December 13, 2014) I am so excited and can't wait to marry my best friend. Wishing all the newly engaged couples all the best and happy planning :) |
