Trevor and Crystal - Surprise proposal at halftime of Van Horn football game

Crystal Escobar is a first year teacher and 2nd year cheer coach for Van Horn HS. She is an alumni from William Chrisman and graduate from UMKC it is rare that through her academic career she was working any less than 3 jobs at a time in order to help her family. She is currently attending Masters School at Mizzou, working as a dance instructor, cheerleading coach, and she is a first year teacher. On 9-27-2013 I arranged to keep the cheer coach Crystal Escobar in the dark by having the athletic director tell her that tonight at half time of the football game the cheer leaders and cheer coaches will be publicly acknowledged for their achievement at state competition. Two years ago Van Horn High School did not even have a cheerleading program and in Crystals 2nd year of coaching she was able to take a rookie squad and turn them into flipping, flying, official cheerleaders. Recently Van Horn Cheer squad went to state and placed 7th out of 11th in Columbia, MO.
My plan was to propose to my girlfriend, Crystal Escobar, at the football game at Truman High School on Friday, September 27th during half time.. Before the cheerleaders perform their usual halftime show routine I'll have the announcer say they want to acknowledge the cheerleading coach Crystal Escobar for their recent state accomplishments and to please report to the field with her cheerleaders. After being recognized for the state accomplishment at this time the cheerleaders could replace their V.H.H.S. signs with new signs that read will you marry me?? Once the girls are done performing and show Crystal the signs the announcer would immediately start playing the song never stop by safety suit once that music starts playing I will appear from the side line and get over there on bended knee with a microphone and propose. I invited her family so hopefully they will be able to come and attend as well as my family. This all really did happen and it was covered by the kansas city star and a few radio/television shows. I dont care who covered the proposal the only thing that mattered to me was that she say yes and I could give her the perfect proposal. She said yes and now we are moving on to the planning stages. |
