The quick engagement of Shawn and Bridget...after 2 weeks we were both certain we were made for each other, and almost 5 years later we still feel the same way.
I had just got out of a long draining relationship and I was not looking for anything. My friends joined a dating website for fun, and would not stop asking me to join it. I told them 'If I join will you shush already!?" long story short I joined...not even a week after a guy messaged me, he had just move to my hometown from Timmins. I was hesitant to meet him, since I have never really met many people from the internet, something told me just go with it. I drove over to his aunts house where he was living for the time being. We drove all night. It turns out we both had the same things in common, hockey, baseball, driving just to drive etc. I came home that night and went to my mother saying "I'm going to marry him" of course a claim like that is rarely accurate. A week went by and he ask me to go on a vacation, nothing drastic Niagara Falls about an hour and a half away. I said yes, which is very unlike me, but I trusted him for some reason. A week after that he picked me up from work. We went for a drive (our usual date night) around the nearby towns. After a long drive I took him back to his aunts house, behind their house is a baseball diamond. He asked me to take a walk... He gave me a hug when we got out of the car and then took my hand. we walked over to the diamond, and lead me right to home plate. He reached into my pocket and took out a beautiful ring... my jaw dropped. He told me that even though we haven't been together that long that he knows it will be like this forever. Without a hesitation I said yes. That was over 4 years ago. I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that I would find someone who is perfect for me in everyway online. What is even more interesting is that all our lives we have struggled with the same type experences. If you read the lyrics "God bless the broken road" by Rascal Flatts, every thing in that song is meant for us. We were abused financially and emotionally in our past relationships and all those events lead us to each other. We plan on having our first dance to that song, its seems very appropriate. Well thats our story, 4 years later and we are still going strong. I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend, and I can't wait to spend everyday with him by my side. |
