Ben and I met at school over 5 years ago and because we were both in a co-op program and in opposite streams we were always apart and only seeing each other on the weekends and holidays. When I was in school, Ben was on co-op and then we switched. And that's how it went until I finished school just this past year.
Anyway, the proposal took place on the night Mar. 12-13th, 2010. I was at school running an event, which didn't end until past midnight and then had to make sure all our volunteers had a buddy to walk with home since it was pretty late by then. Well, Ben came for the weekend and was waiting for me to walk home with me when I surprised him with a volunteer that would be walking with us. He didn't like that because he knew this was the night he wanted to propose and having a stranger around just wasn't gonna work. So I could tell he was a bit anxious on our way home until the volunteer departed to go in his own direction and we were left alone. That's when Ben stopped me in the middle of the street, in the middle of the night, gave a great speech neither one of us remembers, and kneeled down with a ring. His plan was to propose at the residence where we met, which was on the way, but because of the volunteer, it had to be omitted and he had to propose before we got to my place because my roommates were waiting up for us to celebrate with us. They prepared a cake and even danced for us. It was great!!! |
