My name is Jaimie Cameron and my fiance DJ and I have been together for two and a half years, he is a racecar driver so much of his time is spent out in the shop working on his cars and at the racetrack. In 2010 he won the National Championship, the banquet to honour the champions was held in Charlotte, North Carolina so this past past December we went to the banquet for almost a week of activities. The Saturday night was the banquet so we got all dressed up and headed to the Nascar Hall of Fame for the dinner and awards, our series was the second series to be recognized. So they showed his video, awarded him with his trophies and ring, then it was his turn to speak. He thanked his sponsors, NASCAR, the fans, his crew, his family and then he called me to the stage. I walked up on stage with him and he began telling the story of my 25th birthday and how I was so excited that it was on a Wednesday night because it meant he would actually be around and not at the racetrack, well that's not how it went because his hometrack brought in Kyle Busch for a late model race on the Wednesday night so my birthday was spent at the racetrack, he continued on to say that Nascar is a family so he wanted everyone to be there for this, he reached into his jacket pocket and then I knew what he was doing. He got down on one knee in front of everyone at that banquet and asked me to marry him, of course I said yes.
An important thing to note, he has asked my Dad and also let my Mom in on it since the banquet was being streamed live on the internet, although my family wasn't able to be there with me, they were able to feel as though they were by watching it in real time.
