My name is Nikki. I am originally from England but now live in California. I moved to the states when I was 7 years old. I spent 16 years in California, then went to Boston, MA for two years and decided after that to return back to England. I lived in England for four more years before deciding to come back to the states to be near to my immediate family again. Plus, life was pretty lonely over there. I dated, but could never find that special person. Something inside me said, 'you'll find him when you move back to California.'

I moved back to California on November 23rd 2009. On January 16th 2010, I called up an old local friend out of the blue and asked her what she was doing that night. My parents were having some friends over for dinner and I didn't want to stay in, and felt I needed to get myself out and have some fun. My friend told me she was going to San Francisco for the night to meet up with a friend of hers whose boyfriend was having a birthday celebration, and apparently, he was going to have some "cute friends" coming. She asked if I'd like to go along. "What the heck," I said, "Count me in. I need to get out and have some fun." And that was the night I first met Bryan. Bryan was the best friend of the guy whose birthday it was. Bryan was very shy but throughout the night we spoke a mere couple times. I wasn't really looking for anything, and apprently Bryan was only three months out of his last relationship. So, we had fun as a group that night, but nothing came of it.

Two months later, my same friend and I spoke and she was going back to hang out with the same group again for someone elses birthday and again asked if I wanted to come along. I figured I'd had a good time the last time, that all would not be lost if I did go. So I went, and there I saw Bryan again for the second time. I think on this occasion we spoke even less than we did on the first night, but still it was nice and pleasant conversation when we did speak, and he sat next to me when we went to dinner and shared some of my garlic fries with me. That night, my friend and the girlfriend of Bryan's best friend, decided that they should plant a seed with Bryan and told him he should contact me to get together sometime. I didn't know this until later, but sure enough a couple weeks later, Bryan contacted me and we have been inseperable ever since. That was in March 2010. In April, we became "official." By July we moved in together. Something just lit up inside both of us and told us that despite how fast things were going, things were just 'right' and other people recognized it too. I recall Bryan's dad saying to me one night, "some people just have 'it' and you two have 'it.' Don't ever let that go." And, I promised him I wouldn't.

In August 2010 I found out that my 91 year old grandad who lived in England, and my last living grandparent at that, was not doing so well. My grandad and I are so close and I was the last of his grandkids to find someone, and he always expressed to me how he felt that I "should have been the first married. You're a great girl. I don't understand why you can't find a great guy." By August, Bryan and I knew our true feelings for each other, and I knew in my heart that Bryan was 'my one.' I told Bryan that we needed to make a trip out to England to see my grandad so I could have them meet each other and Grandad could see that I had finally met that great guy he'd always hoped I meet.

Bryan and I booked a one week trip to England and flew out on November 23rd 2010 (exactly one year from the date I'd moved back to the states). With the change in time, we didn't arrive in England until the 24th and by the time we eventually got to where we needed to be to see my Grandad it was late at night, so we planned to see him the next day, which was Thanksgiving in the states.

Thanksgiving day rolled around and we picked up our rental car and planned to visit Grandad in the afternoon as that would be a better time for him. When we arrived, I broke down into tears seeing my Grandad. He'd grown much more frail and I was just so happy to see him. I introduced Bryan to Grandad and Bryan expressed how honored he was to meet Grandad. We chatted for a good couple hours and then Bryan and I got out some Christmas decorations and decorated Grandad's room for him. Grandad used to love listening to music but these days won't turn it one. So while we were there to help, I selected one of grandad's classics and put it on.

Bryan, who previous to this was starting to look a bit clammy and uncomfortable, took this opportunity to take my seat next to Grandad. At this point I sat down on the bed to enjoy what I thought was Bryan getting to know my Grandad. I recall Bryan stating, "I am so pleased and honored to have had his opportunity to meet you as I have heard so much about you. Before I left, I spoke to Nikki's dad and asked him a question. I'd like to ask Nikki a question, but before I do, I would like to ask for your permission and blessing as well." My grandad said 'Yes' and they shook hands.

Bryan stood up and then asked me to stand up from the bed. He took my hands in his and told me that he loved me very much. I was in shock, and was shaking my head in disbelief that this was happening. Bryan went down onto one knee and again said how much he loved and asked me to marry him. Bryan pulled out a little black box and opened it up and presented me with the most stunning ring. The two of us were shaking. I was stunned by the ring and said 'yes' and my Grandad sat there with a lovely warm smile on his face looking at both of us and said, "that's lovely."

This is a proposal that I will never forget, and Bryan couldn't have made a better proposal. It showed how much he's listened to me in the past when expressing how much my Grandad means to me, and for me that was the most perfect proposal ever.

Hi Best for Bride,

Thanks for giving me the chance to offer my feedback on my experience at Best for Bride. I have to say it was a great experience. While I can't remember names, everyone there was so helpful and took their time with me so I didn't feel rushed or pressured. I bought my dress off the rack and you had a fantastic selection at really great prices. I had a tough time choosing but in the end, got the perfect dress. Your seamstress was amazing and efficient and the dress fit perfectly after she was done with it. I would definitely recommend Best for Bride to my friends and family. I've attached a picture here. Thanks for all your help!
