My fiance, Mike, and I have been together almost 4 years and he loves to surprise me. The only problem is, once he comes up with a surprise, he just wants to tell me! If he doesn't tell me, the second I'm sad or upset (which he hates) he instantly blurts of the surprise to make me feel better.
Our entire relationship we have been open about discussing 'our future'. I always made it clear, first we buy a condo/house, then get married (yeah, I know backwards but hey our downpayment was a wedding!). We'd been saving up like mad, even lived in his parents basement for almost a year and a half to save up to buy our first place. With about 2 months before closing, I started to stress about money... and for some reason Mike wouldn't let me see his bank account (I knew something was up!). One night in particular I was really going crazy, I didn't think we would have enough money to close and get our new home! All night he kept asking me... "are you really stressed about money?" "Yeah..".. This went back a forth for awhile. Towards the end of the night, we were getting ready for bed, and about to watch our favourite show, How I Met Your Mother, when I noticed he brought his shoes to the basement.. (I thought it was weird). We're about to fall asleep (cuddling), when he asks me again, "are you really stressed about money?" "Yeah..".. (I say again)... then he goes, "what did we do last night?" "we watched a movie then went to bed" "oh, well that will be the last time you will be doing that as my girlfriend" ... I'm thinking, is he breaking up with me? ... "thats because you will be going to bed tonight as my fiance". Even in his proposal his main goal was to make me happy.. |
