Travis and I met almost two years ago,I worked in as a hairstylist in a salon at the time. Travis' mother Rebecca had come to have her hair done at my salon for close to five years, so I knew her very well and we would always share a good laugh when she would come in. Travis would also come in from time to time to have his hair cut,I was never the one to cut it but I would see him and he had a tendency to watch me in the mirror,as pointed out by my manager (who totally called him out one day to his embarassment!).
One day my manager/close friend invited me to a passion party,for those who aren't sure what this is,it is basically a get together to buy sex toys and lingerie lol, Travis' mother Rebecca and his sister Katy happened to be in attendance of this party,they approached me and his mother mentioned to me that her son Travis was single and how great we would be together. I kinda shrugged it off,at the time I was lovin single life.She said well he'll be in to get his hair done soon so check him out!She's a funny lady, so I kept it in mind.
So a few weeks later in walks Travis,all in his dirty work clothes (he's an electrical apprentice),looking very handsome. We shared a few laughs and out he went.About a few days later his mom came in to have her hair done,"oh he was talkin bout you last time I talked to him,how cute he thought you were" she said."But he is too shy a person to ask you out" so I said alright then I'll take the first leap and told her to give him my number.A few days later he called saying how it was the strangest way he'd ever gotten a number,through his mom, but we went on our first date and that was it,we were in love.Mom knows best I guess. This past August 21st we were having a celebration for my 25th birthday at his families cottage,he had been acting nervous the past week, and even had a twitch in one eye!But I had no clue what was in store,he had told me he wasn't ready to get married yet which had upset me so I dropped the discussion.We had a large group of friends up and he was busy showing them around and going on boat rides with them.I was feeling a bit left out and asked him to go for a walk with me.He said he wanted to take his friend chris on the boat,so I pouted a bit and his dad offered to take me for a walk.We went berry picking and had a nice chat. When I got back Travis' mom Rebecca was coming out of the cottage: "Travis is inside,he would like to talk to you" she said without looking up at me. I thought what is this about is he upset with me,because I pouted,which I was already feeling guilty about.so I went inside and out came Travis in a fancy black suit,and me in my baseball hat with no makeup and grubby cottage clothes, I didn't know what to think, I started to shake."I have a question to ask you..will you grow old with me?" as he got down on one knee "will you marry me?"."Yes" I said,crying. We went outside where we were greeted with cheers and popping champagne,it was the best moment of my life and best birthday ever! |
