When it comes to selecting just the right underpinnings to wear with a white wedding gown, you need to consider practicality, as well as beauty. While you may be tempted to wear frothy, frilly underwear, going for more supportive pieces will ensure that your silhouette is smooth and flawless on the big day.
For example, full-figured women may want to wear Spanx under their mermaid-style or fitted wedding gowns, in order to streamline their hips, bellies and thighs.
Women with more boyish lines will benefit from push up bras with discreet padding, as these will add a little fullness on top. This is especially true if a leaner woman with smaller breasts is planning to wear a strapless gown or a design with a low neckline.
Lingerie should be of high quality. Look for smooth seams or seamless styles, in colors that will never show up under your white wedding dress. Nude designs, basic white, and the palest pastels will all work well.
For wedding night romance, keep a frilly, frothy and romantic lingerie set at the ready, or slip into a satiny negligee. Then, you'll have the best of both worlds.
