Some old traditions are also superstitions and for the bride that is following the "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue," mantra, there are ways that she can customize to suit her personality.
This Victorian rhyme is supposed to bring good luck and 'something old' represents staying connected to their family. For this, a bride may wish to wear a family heirloom such as a locket or ring or to carry a photo of her family in her bouquet or a handkerchief. A bride can decorate the 'something old' trinket and make it a part of her wedding attire as an accessory.
'Something new' represents the couple's new union and it is likely that a bride's gown or accessories are already new.
Family and friends are supposed to offer 'something borrowed' as a symbol of their love to the bride. That something borrowed could be a special ring or bracelet that the bride has been loaned for the wedding.
'Something blue' represents fidelity and for this, the bride may have more fun modernizing by wearing blue shoes, a blue sash on her dress or even wear a blue garter.
Don't forget that there should also be a 'silver sixpence in her shoe.' Brides can put a penny in their shoe to have good fortune.

Good morning,
I bought two "mother of the groom" dresses from Denise at Best for Bride in Barrie. The first wedding was on April 29, 2011. I have attached a picture showing the mother of the groom dress. The next wedding is June 25 - I will send the picture after that. The bride wore a dress that was made by a friend. I would like to thank Denise for a wonderful experience I had.
Thanks again!
