My fiancee's name is George. We met at the pool in Las Vegas two years ago and it ended up we only lived an hour apart! We have a great relationship, its always fun, loving and exciting! George's mom was diagnosed with cancer about 5 years ago and passed away on Christmas Day, 2009. I knew her for only three months - but we both knew that George and I were meant to be with eachother, those were her last words to me. In George's family, culture and traditions it is appropriate to mourn for one year when a close family member passes and to forgo any celebrations. This past Christmas we were at George's Dad's house with extended family, including my parents and sister. Some of George's family members said a few words about his mother to commemerate the day and celebrate her life. George turned to me and asked me if it was appropriate to say something as well. He began to thank his father, his sister, his aunts/uncles, my family and finally made it to me. He said, "Lindsay, you have been my rock, my pillow, my push......last year in this house was one of the saddest days of my life...thats why I know...one year later my mother is here to celebrate one of the happiest day's of my life" Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!!! I was speechless!!!!!! I had NO IDEA...he opened a bottle of Dom Perignon that he has been saving for 7 years for the day he gets engaged. I soon found out that this engagment has been planned since June and that is when he purchased the ring! Everyone that was there on Christmas Day was in on the surprise - just waiting for the perfect moment.
