I want to preface the story with how my fiance and I met. We have known each other since Kindergarten! We met when we were 5 years old, and were together in school up until Grade 3. I left the school to attend another one closer to home, however Roger (my fiance) was always a friend who I thought of throughout the years. He was a class clown, and always tried to make friends laugh. We were separated throughout the rest of elementary school, high school and into university, however throughout this time his name would always pop up here and there, through friends of mine that we knew. We ended up reuniting one day in University in 2008, and have been together ever since!!
But back to the engagement story... Roger and I took a trip in December 2015 to New York City right before Christmas. I had always wanted to see the beautiful holiday lights and sounds that we all know too well from movies. From watching the Rockettes, to seeing the Rockefeller tree, it was a trip that I've always wanted to do. While we were in NYC, Roger planned a day to spend in Central Park, walking around and just enjoying the magic of NYC at christmas time. We had stopped to take a break from walking, and he had suggested to go visit a bridge where we had taken pictures together on a previous trip in 2011. I agreed, and we started making our way over there. Before we walked onto the bridge, I asked Roger if we could stop in front of the bridge to take a selfie together. He said sure, so we posed for a picture. After I took our selfie, he turned to me and said the most beautiful, heart warming speech. He then got down on one knee, and in front of that beautiful bridge, he proposed to me. Of course, I said YES!! A crowd had formed around us and onto the bridge, and many onlookers began to cheer and congratulate us. It was by far, the sweetest and greatest moment of my life. As I was crying (hysterically, I might add) he turned to me and said "Do you see that lady over there?" and pointed to a woman behind us. I said "yes...what about her?" He then said "She has been taking our photos and we now have a 30 minute photoshoot with her!" I was shocked! It was so beautiful. I now have beautiful photos to remember not only the moment we got engaged, but also the excitement afterward that the photographer managed to capture so beautifully. I have attached a few of the photos from our engagement for you to enjoy. I hope you enjoyed reading my proposal story. It is one I am so honoured to tell. Roger is the love of my life and I am so excited to marry him. |
