It was the weekend after Valentine's day when my friend, Tiffany, texted and asked me if I wanted to go to a blogger event. As a fashion blogger who had just moved to Atlanta, I was super excited to get out and network to see all of what the city had to offer. I got dressed up--hair, makeup and all--and proceeded downstairs where Tiffany was waiting to pick me up. As we caught up on life and drove, I began to get curious about where the actual venue was. I was telling Tiffany how Jarami and I had met, how I knew he was the one, and that he probably was going to propose soon. Tiffany totally played it off and told me that we were going to the Georgian Terrace (one of the nicest hotels in the city) for the blogger's party. At that point any suspicions of him proposing that night left my mind because I just knew it would be too expensive for him to do it there. We arrived at the hotel and walked into the lobby when Tiffany received a call from her "mom". She promptly answered and told me she had to take it and walked away. A few moments passed, I turned around and she had completely left my sight. I thought it was a bit strange, but I went ahead and sat down on the couch in the lobby to wait.
A few minutes later, up walks Jarami, in a suit & tie with a single rose. I said, "What are you doing here??", knowing exactly what was about to happen. I was in shock, but nerves took over as I saw he was nervous as well. He walked me to the elevator where we rode all the way up to the 9th floor. As we stepped out of the elevator and up the hallway, I saw that he had set up an entire double spiral staircase with red rose petals and candles lined on each stair. There, on the landing was our friend, Josh, who was playing a guitar and singing soft melodies and at the top of the stairs was another friend recording and taking photos of us. As he walked me up the stairwell, we got to the top and there was a circle of candles in which he had me stand. He then poured out his heart to me about our love and how it's from over the past two and a half years and got down on one knee! After he proposed, we were able to have a quick photoshoot, cut it up with our friends and then we headed out to a nice sushi dinner not too far from the hotel. There, they had a private table set up for us where we talked the whole night about the weeks leading up to the proposal. Our waiter brought out a dessert that had "Congratulations!" written on it, which literally ended our night on the sweetest note! I couldn't have imagined a better proposal and I'm so grateful for the love of my life! |
