My name is Meghan Foulds, my fiancés name is Stephen Tait. We have been together for almost six years and will be getting married Oct 1 2011. In order to understand that our story was just fitting for us you have to know that I am not known to like public displays of affection, nor am I one to talk about my feelings especially the lovey dovey ones. To start off this engagement story we have to go back to Aug 2009 when my parents were up visiting. My mom and I went to Wal Mart and my dad and Steve stayed at the house. While I was gone apparently Steve asked my dad if he would be okay if we got married in the future. My dad being a lot like me said something along the lines of "well you already live together don't you?"
From there the rest of the day continued, my mom and I returned from the store and made dinner, we all had a lovely evening and Steve went to bed because he had to work in the morning. My dad, mom and I stayed up watching TV and my dad turned to me and asked if there was something I wanted to tell him. I looked at him with a puzzled expression and said "No. You?" He looked at me and said "Steve asked me today" I looked at him puzzled and said " asked you what?". Then, all of the colour drained from my dad's face and he explains to me that he thought that when my mom and I went to Wal Mart it was a plan and him and Steve to be alone. He thought that I already knew what Steve was going to ask him "Oh boy maybe I wasn't supposed to say anything". I figured it out Steve asked my dad about marrying me. You can count on my family not to keep a secret unless clear instructions are written out and you have signed a contract. So from Aug- Dec 14 I was all over Steve about getting married and proposing. It was a daily discussion for us. Me asking when, him saying we aren't ready yet. Me continually asking him why he would ask my dad if we weren't ready. Poor Steve put up with this for four months straight. Now I take you to Dec 14 2009, our five year anniversary. I have just had surgery to repair my deviated septum and we decided to just go somewhere easy for dinner. We eat our dinners and discuss getting dessert but nothing sounds appealing so we decide we will just go home. I pay for dinner and proceed to tease him about being such a big spender on our five year anniversary (We had agreed not to do gifts). Steve decides we will stop at a convenience store and buy us a chocolate bar for dessert. I continue to tease him and call him a big spender. We conclude our "romantic" evening by going home and watching Dexter. Not much romance but it's us. Then Steve sits on the couch and hands me a card. I open it take a quick glance and proceed to complain that it is three pages and full of sappy writing. He turns and gives me a stern look and says, " JUST READ IT". So I am reading it out loud and making fun of the words while I read, and at the end in his own boyish hand writing are the words Mrs. Meghan Tait with a question mark are at the end. I turn and look at him and he is holding out the most beautiful engagement ring I could have imagined. That is the engagement story of Meghan Foulds and Stephen Tait. |
