I bought the ring in August when I determined that Rani was the person I
wanted to spend with for the rest of my life. I determined that Rani was
the girl for me. That is when I planned my idea to have my proposal
occur in front of Santa Claus at Macy's Herald Square. I coordinated my
plan with an event planner who was involved with preparing the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade. I made many phone calls in order to set up the
proposal. I also explained to the Macy's Planner that Rani would never
want to wait hours in line just to see Santa and asked if there was a
way in which Rani and I could cut ahead of the line. The Planner said
"sure, but how would that be possible without making her suspicious." I
explained to the planner that during a previous vacation to an amusement
park, I have been able to purchase VIP express passes and told her that
I was going to make fake passes as long as Macy's was willing to accept
the fake tickets. The Planner advised that it was possible to do this
and then the plan was in motion. My friend Brian who is a Graphic
Artist created the counterfeit express passes and forwarded pictures of
them to the Macy's Event Planner so she could inform the Santa Land
staff on what to look for upon our arrival to Santa Land on December 8,
2012.
I made plans for me and Rani to go to New York City to see "The REAL SANTA CLAUS" at Macy's in New York City. She made fun of me quite often during this planning because she couldn't believe that her 35 year old boyfriend was willing to stand on long line with children to see Santa Claus. I informed Rani the night before to not worry about the long lines at Macy's as I had purchased express passes for $100 to skip the line and see Santa Claus at Macy's Santa Land. Rani scolded me because she didn't understand why her boyfriend would spend so much money just to see Santa. When we got to Macy's I showed the "express passes" to a manager with a headset. The man said to hold a minute and asked for Lisa to know where to send the "Express Pass" holders. Then he told me and Rani to go ahead and look for a "tall elf" with an IPAD who was waiting at the Locomotive to check us onto the express lane to see Santa Claus. The "tall elf" greeted us and said "Santa has been waiting to see you" and took the passes and led me and my unsuspecting girlfriend to the express lane to see Santa. Then Macy's Event Planner came over to greet us, at the time Rani didn't know this woman was as she led us through a black curtain and there to the right of us was Santa. He greeted us upon our arrival and informed us about how much we had both grown while the elf photographer had us sit on either side of the Big Man in the red suit. The Elf took the picture, and then Santa asked Rani what she wanted for Christmas. She told him that she wanted a camera and then he then turned to me and asked what I wanted. I said that I wasn't sure but that I did send him an email. Santa said "oh, yes, you did send me an E-Mail" and ordered the elves to go get his email. At that point one of the elves reached behind the curtain and handed Rani a bouquet of roses. I requested for Rani to count the roses. She was nervous because Santa and the elves were watching as she counted. Because of her nerves she miscounted and said 12. I corrected her and said no there should be 11 and I stood up and said "that doesn't matter, because what matters is right here, every month I give you roses but the problem is that they die. However, I have the 12th rose here that will never die." I then pull out of my pocket a ring box in the shape of a rose, I then get down on my knee and hand Rani the box and she opens it up and sees an engagement ring and I ask her to marry me. Rani said yes of course, and holds out the wrong hand for me to put the ring on. Rani puts the ring on the correct hand and we kiss and then walk to the photo collection place. Thank you very much Macy's Herald Square for making December 8, 2012 so special for Rani and myself. Last year I asked Santa for a girlfriend and Rani came into my life. This year he got her to say yes to my proposal, Macy's really does bring Miracle's on 34th Street. |
