Hen Q&A
|
Q. I've got my hen night coming up in a couple of weeks, and I'm absolutely stuck for ideas for the dress theme. I'd like everyone to be in costumes, but not just something that identifies who's with the party group. Dressing up is a lot of fun and I think it would really raise the spirit of the event. But what are some classic or creative ideas for hen night costumes? A. There are lots of tried and true favourites when it comes to hen night costumes, but there's also the potential to let your imagination run wild! Fun and flirty is always a winner when it comes to hen nights, and these evenings often tend to lend themselves to adult fancy dress. But that doesn't mean that you have to be all grown up about it! Disney princesses, super heroes or Hollywood film themes are a great way to have a blast dressing up as characters that are not only easily recognisable, but also known and loved by all. You can also go for someone who's not loved by all, for example Cruella De Vil. Sexy devils, gangster girls, police officers or army girls are ideal for any hen night with attitude and these types of fancy dress costumes are either easy to make at home or purchase in stores. Get a little burlesque and dress up as characters from the Rocky Horror Picture Show or dancers from the Moulin Rouge. If those aren't really your scene, why not get dolled up as the pink ladies from the film Grease, adopt the fashion from a certain era of time like the 60s, 70s or 80s, or even come as cow girls. Bumblebee costumes are a cute alterative for those wanting to turn heads in an innovative way, although sometimes simplicity is the best option. Hen night accessories, wigs or items of clothing that indicate the bride-to-be's profession are always clear-cut winners. It's a great idea to come in lab coats if the bride-to-be is involved in the fields of science or medicine, or like school children if she's a teacher or professor. The rest is up to your imagination! |
