I guess the first page in the story of our life began 8 years ago when my good friend, after much convincing, swayed me to come out and meet her roommate. If nothing else, I was promised an evening of good times and so I forged my way into the night willingly. Little did I know then, that the funny, witty and charming man I was about to meet, would be the same man I'd be marrying just a 8 short years later.
And so, as fate would have it, our relationship began. As two self-proclaimed "young-at-heart" souls, marriage wasn't often a topic of conversation for us. I didn't have grandiose ideas of my perfect proposal, let alone my wedding day. When I look back on it now though, and on all of the over-the-top creative and romantic things he's done for me over the years, I should've known this proposal would be one for the books.
We had purchased tickets to see our all time favourite band, Pearl Jam, at the Air Canada Centre. Nothing leading up to the concert led me to suspect in any way that he was up to something. We met friends before the show, and Aaron was as cool, calm and collected as he always is. The house lights dimmed and the show began. Cold beers in hand and my best friend at my side, it was already the perfect night ... I had no idea. About half way through the show they played my favourite song, "Elderly woman behind the counter of a small town." With the momentum of the crowd, I raised up my arms and began to sing my heart out. As I turned to Aaron to cheers him, there he was, among a crowd of thousands of people, down on one knee with his index finger extended, and on the tip of it was the ring! As he yelled over the crowd, "Marry me, Aut?" I remember my heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest. As I yelled back "Yes! - Get up! Get up!" I remember all of the people in the seats around - perfect strangers - cheering for us! There were many high-fives as they shared in our moment. It was one of the most surreal experiences in my life, and I recall thinking "If my life were a movie it would have one stellar soundtrack".
As if that weren't enough, just as the house lights were about to come on, Pearl Jam played their encore "Keep on rockin' in the free world," and the very man himself, Neil Young, walked up on stage and joined them in the finale. I couldn't help but think the stars were aligned for us that night.
So tell me about your experience at Best for Bride.
Well, I spent some time in the big city. I thought may be I can go there and find some styles and being a little larger was not exactly easy but I came to Barrie, saw the girls at Best for Bride and they hooked me up. I had a much better experience, so much more fun and the girls really listened to what you want and you can be goofy and it is fun and it is OK. It does not have to be a stressful experience. So I would highly recommend and if you are looking for a gown and for a good time come to Best for Bride.
Please tell us about your experience at Best for Bride.
We came in today because I'm gonna panic because I'm gonna marry in two weeks and I absolutely hated my dress so I just mentioned a few things what I wanted and she pulled, the first dress that she pulled I put on and I loved it fits in and out in and out in literally in 25 minutes steaming it all. Yeah
Awesome, thank you ladies.
You're welcome.
Please tell me your experience at Best for Bride.
Well it started off rather poorly I guess you could say, but it turned out great, especially Barrie, the women are wonderful, the seamstress Kat is absolutely fabulous if I had to use her for anything else I'll be on the phone in a second to call her.
That's great. Thank you so much.
I am so happy with my service at Best of Brides. I was always greeted with a smiling face and Denise and Maureen were amazing! They were so helpful, honest and were very accommodating. Kat did the alterations and the dress fit like it was made just for me. I will recommend this shop to any friend or family looking for bridal wear.
Best For Bride, and specifically Olga was very helpful when I was ordering the dress for my niece. She was very helpful when I had questions in respect to the sizing. I was able to pay with my credit card and it was hassle free. I live in West Africa and sometimes it is difficult to have things delivered here. The shipping was free and the dress arrived exactly when they said it would arrive. As this was a very positive experience I would recommend Best For Bride to anyone who was thinking of buying a dress off the internet.
I bought two "mother of the groom" dresses from Denise at Best for Bride in Barrie. The first wedding was on April 29, 2011. I have attached a picture showing the mother of the groom dress. The next wedding is June 25 - I will send the picture after that. The bride wore a dress that was made by a friend. I would like to thank Denise for a wonderful experience I had.
