4 Ways to Get Your Groom to Help With Wedding Planning

We took a look at some of the most popular wedding checklists published, and we counted over 80 individual items that need to be completed with planning a wedding! And if your fiancé is anything like my husband, he will complete about 1 of those 80 items!

Reducing your stress during wedding planning is one of the best things you can do for your overall physical and mental health. So get your fiancé to lighten the load! Here are our top 4 suggestions for sharing wedding tasks that we promise your fiancé can handle:

1)    Compile a list of his family and choose his groomsmen.  This sounds simple and straightforward, that being said it may take a little prodding to get this completed.  To help make sure this is done in time, make sure you give him hard deadlines of when you need a rough list and when the final list needs to be ready.

2)    Plan the rehearsal dinner.  Trust me, you have enough to do with planning the wedding.  Let your fiancé and his parents take care of the rehearsal dinner.  If you have specific dreams of ideas for the rehearsal dinner, let your fiancé know before he begins planning. Or, do what I did and sit back and enjoy the venue tours and food tasting, and only be responsible for helping make the final decision.

3)    Confirm and book items that you have already agreed upon.  This could include the wedding transportation for guests, booking the wedding band or DJ, wedding officiant, or booking hotel room blocks.  Your time should be spent perusing wedding inspiration on Pinterest…not confirming things that have previously been decided.

4)    Make sure guests know your wedding weekend details. Many couples use beautifully printed weekend itineraries, mass emails, or group texts to get this information out. Printed information is expensive and easily lost, group texts require you to be texting during your wedding weekend (which is no fun!), and mass emails get lost in your guest’s mailboxes. The best and most cost-effective solution to this problem is WedTexts!

WedTexts is the easiest way to communicate with your wedding guests.  Our website (or app) allows engaged couples to pre-schedule helpful reminders to be sent to their wedding guests for every wedding event.  Unlike other wedding apps, there is nothing for wedding guests to download!  If your guests can receive a text message, you can be sure they are kept in the loop for every event.

After creating your free Wedtexts account, ask your fiance to manage your account! It’s one of the easiest things he can do to help reduce the stress surrounding your wedding weekend. And your guests will thank you too!

Buyer Beware the Bargain Dress

Sometimes a bargain can just end up being a headache.  When it comes to weddings, proms, and formal events getting everything done right, on time, and with minimal stress, is tantamount to saving money.  However, a cheap dress just might end up costing more you in the long run.

Trends we love – Classic Features in modern wedding dresses

If you come across a price on a designer gown that seems to good to be true, it probably is.  Nothing puts a damper on a wedding like finding out your dresses are low quality knock-offs when it is already too late to hunt down replacements.

Consider that an inexpensive dress may only afford you one or two wearings and might not survive a cleaning.  The last thing you need at your prom or wedding is a wardrobe malfunction or a creeping hemline.  High quality dresses are lined, and stitched to last with beautiful lasting fabrics and strong thread.

You do not have to go with a famous name designer to get quality.  The bigger the name, the bigger the price; because you are paying for the prestige-factor. In fact, wearing mid-level and less known designers is an industry secret to getting the quality and the look at a reasonable price point.  Regardless of how famous, when a designer puts his or her name on a piece, it is a symbol of pride.  When investing in a designer piece you can expect heirloom quality to pass on for generations, or a wear again look to enjoy for years to come.

Unfortunately the internet is flooded with websites selling fake goods, cheap imitations, or even worse, just simply charging credit cards without even sending the gowns. Without dresses, can there even be a wedding?   Wedding planners use reputable businesses to avoid unpleasant surprises.  When searching for a reputable dress shop there are a few things to look at to make sure you are getting the real deal.

Modest Modern Wedding dresses

Right off the bat you can tell by the quality of the website and dress descriptions.  Does the website mention information like specifics on styles and sizing?  Anyone can throw together a quickie website.  Be sure that the website you buying through is verified.  If you are buying through Paypal or with a credit card, although you have some buyer protection, keep in mind that that still does not guarantee you finding replacement dresses by your deadline should something happen to wrong.

Read real reviews from real people who have used the services of the shop, and look for these reviews on legitimate ratings websites. A website with little to no reviews, or reviews that sound fake, is probably a scam.

How many years has the shop been in business?  Do they have a real brick and mortar location?  Ask questions and do  your research. If the dress shop only exists online, this is something to be wary of.  By using a dress shop that has a real physical location, even if it is not in your town, you can still count on top-notch customer service and timely deliveries. If you need alterations or customizations you can either buy locally or enlist the services of your local seamstress. Many dry cleaning establishments also offer alterations.

When it comes to clothing you get what you pay for.  When thought is put into the design you can count on a great fit, blacks that will resist fading, and fabrics that feel soft against the skin.  Knock off dresses are all about making a quick buck off of the hard work of someone else.  There is no telling where, how, or who makes them.  Even worse, you may end up without a dress at all.

Our guide to the right outfits for a beach wedding

beach wedding

Is a beach wedding a casual or an elegant affair? What will be the appropriate attire to wear on your beach wedding, or to one that you’ve been invited to? These are few questions that both the wedding party and the guests have, when the wedding venue is a beach.

The natural setting has a casual vibe, so formal wear is ruled out completely. But, you should put in a little more effort than you would when dressing up for a regular beach outing, when you have to attend a wedding. The idea is to strike a balance between semi-formal and casual.

So, we decided to simplify the dress code for these weddings. Read on to find out what attire would be suitable for the couple, bridesmaids, groomsmen and the guests at a beach wedding.

The bride

We strongly believe that a bride should wear a wedding dress she loves, whether she gets married on the beach, or in a banquet hall. Unfortunately, not all dresses are practical for sandy shores. A heavy dress is impossible to carry in warm, sunny weather, and you could trip on one with a long train. The functional choice would be a bridal dress in breezy, light fabric. It shouldn’t weigh you down, and shouldn’t restrict your movement. Nor should it feel too warm. Accessorize to dress up a simple dress, or choose one with embellishments in the bodice if you want a dressy gown.

The groom

beach wedding

Substitute the traditional dark tux with a lighter shade. For a casual wedding, consider a three-piece suit, or spruce up your look with a colored or checkered shirt. Eliminate the tux altogether, if you want a cool, casual vibe and are planning a Boho wedding.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

For a refreshing look, choose pastel colored dresses in light fabric like chiffon or georgette, for your bridesmaids. Shorter hemlines are appropriate for the beach, and floral accessories are just perfect for the natural ambiance. Three-piece suits in light shades are the trend in groomsmen attires. Stay away from ties and work more towards a semi-formal look to keep it appropriate.

Wedding guests

Guests usually have the toughest time deciding what to wear. The look should be effortless and casual, but not too simple. Although the venue is the beach, it is still a wedding. So, our suggestion is to aim for casual elegance. Summer dresses in light fabric are a winner for women. You can choose a pretty patterned one with simple embellishments, or choose a monochromatic look. Choose natural earthy accessories made from stones and shells, and keep the bling to a minimum, so you don’t look out of place. Male guests can wear slacks and semi-formal shirts. Both groups should stay away from t-shirts and jeans, as this is in no way appropriate wedding wear, however casual the wedding may be.

Now that you know what is the right attire, all you have to do is find it. Look no further than at Best for Bride for the perfect wedding dress, breezy romantic bridesmaids dresses and outfits for wedding guests.

Fashion trends for bridegrooms

The bridal world of fashion is always buzzing with fresh and interesting trends. Every season brings forth several new ideas and unique designs, that are entirely different from what had been trending in the previous season.

Fashion for grooms is not far behind. The summer and spring catwalks brought us some equally interesting and dashing designs, all for the man in love. Let us take a look at what is in store for this season and next in wedding fashion for the grooms.

Light and bright tuxedos

blue suit

The signature look of the bridegroom in a black or dark colored tux, with a light shirt inside is being replaced with lighter and more cheerful colors. The fitted tux is also going for an overhaul, with the latest being loose fitting baggy style tuxes and trousers. This is not only more casual, it looks stylish and dashing too.

Stripes and prints

With the wedding dress taking on new forms and looks with vivid patterns and prints, men are also introduced to fresh and fun suits that sport stripes and prints. Inspired by high street style, groom fashion is moving away from the traditional wedding look and is now more relaxed and casual. Let your personality shine through on your big day through your choice of a suit in patterns or stripes that are a reflection of the real you. Choices range from subtle textures and prints in gray and black, to bright and vibrant accents in red, orange, camel and brown on darker suits.

Soft, yet formal

Tweed jackets bring out the perfect blend of a formal look with soft touches. Suitable for both traditional and modern style weddings, you can even experiment with colors. Who said colors were for women? It’s your day too, so go for superbly tailored softly textured tweed jackets and woolly suits in interesting colors like navy or burgundy. Read more about how to rock this trend at the Rock My Wedding website.

Three-piece suits

three piece

This is a great hit this year. The addition of the waistcoat to the traditional tux adds a whole new degree of sophistication. You do not have to match it entirely to your tuxedo and trousers. Color contrasts and interesting combinations are all the rage, and this allows you to experiment with different price tags and fabric finishes to achieve the look that is just right for your personality. The other great thing about three-piece suits is that it also opens up a world of accessories to match your attire to. We are thinking cool hats and pocket watch chains; what do you say?

Boho vests

boho

Now, for the cool dude who is getting married in a tropical paradise; bright colors and loose shirts effortlessly paired with casual khakis are beckoning you. For a semi-formal look, that is still appropriate for the wedding, mix and match printed and patterned boho vests are the top choice. Checkered shirts, bow ties and suspenders are all in style, so make your pick.

Don’t you just love these looks? I think groom fashion is getting better every year. For more interesting updates on what is hot and happening in the world of wedding fashion, and for all your shopping needs, come visit us at Best for Bride.
