How to Be Hot and Hairless on Your Honeymoon

Nothing is more of a mood killer than getting hot and heavy with your new hubby, only to have him run his hand across your body and straight over an outcropping of stubble. For years women have been plucking, shaving, waxing, and tweezing only to have that pesky hair return faster and thicker than before! Thankfully, one of the newest and more technologically advanced techniques on the market today is laser hair removal. Now brides-to-be can say good-bye to their daily hair removal routines once and for all in preparation for their big day.

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective means of ridding your hair from literally any location that hair grows with the most popular areas being the legs, underarms, bikini line, and Brazilian (everything from front to back in your private region). The laser works by targeting the melanin (pigmentation) in the hair follicle and uses heat to completely destroy the root of the hair, preventing any future growth. Because of this, the most ideal candidates for this treatment are those with lighter skin tones and darker hair (so the laser doesn’t accidently target the melanin in the skin), although there are newer lasers on the market that can treat clients with all different skin tones as well. For better results, it is advisable to not have tanned skin when going in for laser treatments. Keep in mind that the laser will not work on everyone. Blonde, grey, or white hairs cannot be treated as they lack pigmentation. Since the root of the hair is destroyed, the results of laser hair removal are extremely long-lasting, though experts do not like to use the term “permanent” as the technology has not been around long enough to do accurate studies.

Plan to start your treatments several months prior to your wedding or honeymoon as you will need multiple treatments in order to achieve success. Hair grows in 3 different cycles and each hair will be in one of these 3 phases at any given time. The laser only effectively destroys the hair during one of these phases so it is necessary to have on average 6-8 treatments. Sessions are scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks apart in order to allow hair to cycle. After your laser treatment, you will see hairs beginning to fall out within the first couple weeks and significantly less and less hair will return with every session.

There are a few temporary side effects such are redness, soreness, and itchiness that may be experienced immediately after treatment but it will usually go away within a matter of hours. In very rare cases, improperly set lasers can lead to minor burns or hypopigmentation (leaving lightened splotches of skin that may take month to disappear). The importance of finding a skilled and certified laser technician and being honest when answering their questions about your ethnic background (to determine skin tone) cannot be stressed enough. The knowledge of the person performing the procedure can make the difference between a pleasurable experience and a not so good one. It definitely pays to do your research.

Many women have experienced great success with this hair removal method and some have even found it to be addictive. After all, who doesn’t want to be soft, sexy, and smooth for your big day, your honeymoon, and for the rest of your happily ever after?

How To Be A Truly Traditional Bride

Classic beauty never goes out of style – if you’ve always longed for a traditional wedding with all of the bells and whistles, you’ll need a wedding gown that is truly timeless.

Traditional brides keep it classy – nothing is too flashy, bodices don’t dip too low for good taste, and wedding shoes, veils, and accessories are simple and elegant.

If you’re looking for tips on becoming the most classic, lovely bride you can be, you’ll enjoy our quick guide to timeless beauty for today’s traditional brides:

Rituals And Traditions Will Add Meaning To Your Wedding

Today, traditional brides always choose white bridal gowns – this ritual began in Victorian England, and it was instituted by Queen Victoria, who believed in the purity and angelic symbolism of pure white.

Other early 19th century rituals were also taken into account before brides-to-be selected their wedding dresses – for example, it was considered unlucky to marry in a gown you made yourself. The truly traditional bride will always choose a bridal dress created by someone else…

If you dream of a very traditional wedding day, the charming custom of wearing “something old and something new, something borrowed, something blue” should also be a part of your wedding rituals.

Something old symbolizes your old life as a single woman…and something new illustrates your journey into a new life as a married woman.

Something borrowed echoes the influences of your friends and family…something blue is derived from ancient Jewish wedding traditions…this soothing color is believed to be a symbol of faithfulness in love…

English brides in the Victorian Age also put a silver coin (sixpence) in their shoe…this tradition was believed to bring good luck and material success to the new couple after their wedding…

Traditional Beauty Is Simple And Feminine…Never Overdone…

Creating traditional beauty in your wedding ensemble can be as simple as wearing a circlet of wildflowers in your hair…brides in the Emerald Isle followed this ritual for centuries.

If you prefer a classic veil, you may enjoy knowing that it is symbolic of chastity! The first wedding veils worn in ancient Greek ceremonies were yellow – in Rome, they were red!

Simple makeup and soft, touchable hair are the hallmarks of the classic bride – whether you hair is worn up or down – both styles are quite traditional – it should be classic and feminine. Flushed cheeks (a cheek tint like Benefit`s will work so well!) and rosy lips (without a great deal of eye makeup!), will evoke classic beauty.

Don`t wear too much powder – keep your skin youthful and dewy with a great moisturizer…blotting papers are a cute, and very traditional, way of cutting shine without adding more powder!

Look at works of art from online gallery tours – women of previous centuries were always captured while showing off flowing curls, luminous skin, and natural beauty.

A fake spray tan may look great at the beach, but it won’t really evoke classic beauty at your wedding. It’s all about making the most of your natural hair texture and your God-given coloring!

Embrace your own beauty with a classic wedding gown, elegant veil, and dainty wedding bands.

Other Fun Wedding Traditions To Enjoy

Today, many brides also follow the ritual of not being seen by their groom-to-be before the wedding – being spotted by your future husband before you walk down the aisle is thought to be bad luck.

In certain cultures, a ritual bath is practiced by brides before they are dressed in their wedding gowns – this cleansing ceremony is believed to purify the bride-to-be before her marriage.

Plan Your Trousseau

This fun tradition is French in origin – the word trousseau mean “bundle”. Your trousseau is a special set of clothing and accessories, designed to be worn on your honeymoon. If you’re interested in wedding rituals, you’ll truly enjoy filling a trunk or suitcase with a “bundle” of new items! This may not be as wonderful as finding perfect wedding dresses, but it can still be very fulfilling! Traditionally, the bundle may also include some new items for the home…

We hope you’ve enjoyed this look at traditional bridal rituals. Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life…if you value the rituals of the past, add in some of them to your own wedding day. You’ll connect with history and symbolism as you prepare to start a whole new chapter in your life!

Body Shape and Bridesmaid Dresses

The main challenge with choosing bridesmaid dresses is in finding one that will make everybody happy. And by everybody, it means the bridesmaids, of course. After all, your bridesmaid will come in different shapes and sizes, lengths and likes!

bridesmaid dress

It’s a good thing then that you can choose to make your bridesmaids wear the same dress color albeit in varying styles to suit their body shapes. Here then are basic guidelines to match your bridesmaids’ body shape with their dresses.

Full Figured

You have to choose bridesmaid dresses that are as simple as can be in terms of fabric embellishments like ruffles and fluff to achieve a slimming effect. If you must choose puffy skirts, balance the volume with a small shawl or shrug.

As much as possible, you have to steer clear of two-tone bridesmaid dresses because these will only shorten the silhouette and hence make your full-figured bridesmaid look more, well, full-figured. Styles like halters, empire waists, A-lines, crossover necklines and bias cut skirts are ideal to accentuate full figures while hiding the flaws.

And if your bridesmaid is worried about a wide waist, then you can always let her use a darker-colored sash to slim it down. Who says that your bridesmaids must look like clones of each other?

Pear Shape

For the pear-shaped bridesmaids, you can design bridesmaid dresses that downplay their biggest flaw, no pun intended, which are their largish hips. First, opt for halters since these necklines broaden the shoulders and, hence, provide the illusion of smaller hips.

bridesmaid dress

Second, necklines with pretty details can distract attention away from heavy hips. Just make sure that said neckline complements the shape of the face.

Third, the skirts must either be A-line or subtly flared or pleated/gathered at the front/back. This way, the heavy bottom will not be emphasized. If possible, design the bridesmaid dress with a cinched waist to provide more definition.

Just make sure that you don’t incorporate all these suggestion in one dress lest your bridesmaid appear confused, style-wise. Just choose one that you can both agree on.

Tall

You can opt for bridesmaid dresses that break the long lines of a tall bridesmaid. Pretty details at the hips and waist like sashes and belts will do the trick of providing definition between the torso and the lower limbs.

Depending on the bridesmaid’s choice, she can either choose to wear a tea-length dress or a floor-length gown. Either one can highlight the desirable feature of a tall girl. Just make sure though that the other bridesmaids will look as tall as she is by allowing them to wear high heels. Well, except for a beach wedding, that is.

bridesmaid dress

Petite

In this instance, you have to design bridesmaid dresses that will elongate the body. This can be achieved through short skirts preferably knee-length, sheaths and fitted dresses that provide an illusion of length, dropped waist bodices for longer-looking torsos and higher necklines.

Just make sure that your petite bridesmaid does not come dressed in floor-length dresses as she will surely look like a small child playing pretend party. Keep the dress short and you will make her look tall. And high heels do help!

Again, your bridesmaids don’t have to wear identical clothes if they don’t have similar body shapes. Your friendship is more important than wrangling over the prettiest design for her!

Tips on Designing Bridesmaid Dresses for Beach Weddings

Many a bride has found that designing bridesmaid dresses present a challenge worth taking. You have to consider many factors like differences in skin tone, body and face shape as well as personality when designing a fairly uniform bridesmaid dress that will make all the bridesmaids happy. You will soon find that choosing your own bridal dress for your beach wedding was a breeze, pun intended, than choosing the bridesmaid dresses!

Fortunately, you can keep these helpful tips in mind when deciding on the bridesmaid dress that all your beautiful ladies in waiting can wear with smiles on their faces to rival the radiance of the sun during sunrises at the beach.

Weather Conditions

Depending on the location of your beach wedding, weather conditions will vary. For example, if you get married in Florida, you can either experience a subtropical climate or a true tropical climate depending on what region of the Sunshine State you are in. And there is also a difference between being married on the lakefront and on the riverfront.

Thus, you must design the bridesmaid dresses according to the prevailing weather in the wedding locale. If you get married during the autumn, be sure to include wraps to shield your bridesmaids for the cold. If you tie the knot in summer, then tube tops and spaghetti straps are excellent ideas.

bridesmaid dress

Dress Construction

The bridesmaid dresses must be made of materials that are breathable, skim the body gracefully and present a picture of ethereal beauty. Ideal textiles for this purpose usually include cotton blends, silk, satin and chiffon. Rich fabrics such as wool and velvet have absolutely no place in a beach wedding!

Also, you have to ensure that the dress construction allows for the abovementioned ideal textiles to flow smoothly over the bridesmaids’ figures. Think of the images of sea goddesses rising out of the sea with their flowing garments moving with the wind and you get the idea – no stiff corsets and whalebone skirts please!

Beach-y Length

Have mercy on your bridesmaids. Their bridesmaids’ dresses must allow them freedom of movement in the sand and sea. Of course, they are not expected to take a dip but at least they should be able to walk without restraint on the soft sandy beach!

Thus, the length of the bridesmaid dress must be ankle-length at most. Knee-length is ideal although you also have to take into consideration the wind conditions as you don’t want your bridesmaids to be holding on to their skirts to prevent peep shows from happening. Not everybody wants to be Marilyn Monroe, after all.

Minimal Embellishments

When it comes to beach weddings, the less embellishments on the dress, the better. You have to avoid formal details like beadings and sequins because these do not belong on the beach. Instead, opt for natural-looking embellishments like thin ribbons and subtle lace overlays, maybe even a corsage instead of a bouquet.

Again, designing bridesmaid dresses present a challenge for most brides. But with beach weddings less formal and more casual, your life as a bride will become so much easier.

At BestforBride.com, you can choose from a wide array of evening dresses and bridesmaid dresses for all wedding themes, even a bridesmaid dress for a beach wedding.

Choosing the Right Colors to Accentuate Your Wedding Dresses

Choosing the colors to accentuate your wedding dresses seems pretty easy. Predictably enough, most brides pick out their favorite shade out of the palette, without giving their wedding motif much consideration.

Let’s just put it this way, your wedding motif is red. Your wedding favors are the same shade of red, your mom’s plus size wedding attire is even red! Then you decide to go off and add a despicably obvious apply green sash to your otherwise pristine wedding dress. Horrendous is the best word for it.

Pink, red, fuchsia, burgundy, plum, mauve, purple, or blue, you name it. It actually does not matter what shade you would accentuate your wedding dresses with, as long as it is in the same color family as your chosen motif for your wedding. The key here is to leaf through a variety of color combinations and patterns. Bridal magazines are the best medium by which to look for wedding dresses. They portray wedding dressesF201 of various designs, color combinations and color patterns.

Here are a few tips that might help you out in choosing the right colors to accentuate your wedding dresses:

1. As mentioned above, choose colors that complement your wedding’s motif. The closer the shade of your wedding dresses’ accents to your motif, the better.

2. Consider how the color of your choice will look on your wedding dresses. White may be neutral, but it doesn’t mean that anything goes with white. For instance, choosing a chocolate brown sash or a dirt brown bow may not work well for you or your wedding dress. Instead of looking special, you will end up looking dowdy.

3. Think about how your accentuated wedding dresses will look with the other wedding accessories. Will the accents stick out like a sore thumb? You may have picked out a shade that basically belongs to the same family as your wedding theme. Your wedding theme lilac. You chose to accentuate your wedding dress with a deep purple sash. Note, deep purple, the color of mourning. That is not good at all.

F208_3

4. It is good to be daring. In fact, the best inventions in this world emerged because a lot of people were audacious enough to try new things. However, this does not always apply to your wedding dresses’ color combinations, or color patterns for that matter. Plaid, checkered or stripes will never work in a wedding. Leopard prints, zebra prints or giraffe prints will produce worse effects. Imagine how horrifying it would be for your guests. Unless of course, your venue is the public zoo.

5. Here is a very good piece of advice, check out the venue of your wedding and your wedding reception. Take a look at the curtains, carpet and the tablecloths. Make sure the accents to your wedding dresses are not the same shade as those. Save yourself the embarrassment.

6. Sequins look great on wedding dresses. However, covering up nearly half of your wedding dresses is certainly not a good idea. Whatever the color of the sequins is, they should not be overbearing. Sequins are meant to accentuate your wedding dresses, not to cover it up.

What to Look For in an Online Bridal Shop – Five Hot Tips

Tip No. 1

Budget is not an issue when you start searching for a bridal shop. These shops carry a line of designer wedding gowns priced accordingly from the most expensive to the very affordable for the budget conscious bride.

Tip No. 2

Customer service should be an issue in your choice of a bridal shop. Friendly customer service makes you comfortable in picking out the wedding dress and other formal gowns for the wedding entourage. The sales people should be patient and accommodating and not bulldozer you towards expensive gowns or to their outdated selections.

Tip No. 3

Smaller shops are friendlier than those shops offering high volume merchandise. The sales people are aware that you are looking for the wedding gown of your dreams and will offer you a wide selection plus gown alteration for a fee.

Tip No. 4

A bridal shop should carry a line of wedding services. Skip the search for wedding shoes and accessories, discounted wedding invitations, wedding cakes and wedding favors, and honeymoon destinations. It is practical to get the services from the same shop where you are getting your wedding dress because you can get more discounts. You also do not have to deal with a number of shops, which can be confusing and time consuming.

Tip No. 5

The bridal shop should have a stock for the plus sized and the petite. The salesperson should be knowledgeable about body shapes and types of fabrics that would enhance your body shape.

The Best Surprises Come in Small Packages

It is a toss-up between big bridal shops and the small bridal boutique. Small bridal shops win hands down if you want personalized service. You can find this out by visiting the local bridal store in your locality or by the prompt response to your queries from online shops.

When the salespeople don’t rush you to make a purchase, you have found the shop that wants you to help fulfill your wedding fantasies. It does not matter if you buying an expensive gown or renting an affordable bridal dress, so you are better off here. With small shops, you are in the company of sales people who are after your complete satisfaction.

Surprisingly small stores carry the latest in designer gowns and offer an assortment too. These shops provide gown and accessories rentals if you decide to rent the whole kit and caboodle for you, your bridesmaids, and your mother and your mother-in-law to be. It would be fun swooping down to the shop with your family and friends for your first look-see.

Choosing your wedding gown should not be confusing if you stick to the wedding theme and your budget. With the information, the bridal shop of your choice will steer you to the appropriate gowns if you let them know what you want.

If you cannot explain the details or describe the bridal dress, it would help to have a picture of the gown, probably a cut-out from a bridal magazine, with you. The bridal shop will offer similar gowns or may have the very one thing you are looking for. Now you are ready to shop for your bridal dress.

The best bridal shop offer shopping convenience from wedding gowns to wedding favors to discount wedding invitations. Why look elsewhere when BestForBride.com has them all and at affordable prices?

A Honeymoon Registry is the Vehicle for Your Dream-Come-True Wedding Gift

A Honeymoon Registry is the Vehicle for Your Dream-Come-True Wedding Gift by Darlene Berkel

The wedding registry is an excellent way to have the guests chip in together towards a more meaningful set of gifts. Here the couple would have to register with the wedding registry or have the guests informed about it. Make sure you are conveying as clearly as possible what you would want your guests to give you, so they can make the choice that would benefit you the most.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of the Honeymoon Registry

First of all, let us clear up the concept of the honeymoon registry, which is similar to the wedding registry. However, while the latter would inspire wedding gifts, the former would request the guests to contribute towards the budget of the honeymoon hence, the name of honeymoon registry. While the idea is excellent and often is extremely successful, there are a few major drawbacks with this system

It will require an early notice to all the guests, i.e. some three months in advance. This means that the guests would have to be invited about three months in advance, which will in turn mean that all the arrangements (at least the majority of them) be finalized and printed in a card some three months in advance as well.

In spite of the long advance notice, sometimes even several weeks after the wedding not all the guests will have joined the honeymoon registry. In that case it would be difficult for you (unless you can complement the rest of the finances) to really take up the honeymoon plan, which could be extremely frustrating.

The honeymoon registry will take a lot of effort, coordination and planning. If and when it does not turn out as successful as you would like it to be, it is kind of heart breaking, and not a great way to start your married life.

However, before we write it off as a bad tradition, let us cast a glance on the advantages it offers. When the guests are really tuned in to the idea, you will find an excellent way to pay for a wonderful honeymoon without stretching your financial sources any further.

Instead of getting five toasters, three juicers, and unending sets of china tea sets, you will be able to make your wishes clear about what you need from your guests. The guests could decide whether they want to join the honeymoon registry or not, based upon their financial capacity and commitments.

Even in the worst of worst conditions, you are still getting a good source of cash through this. In this case, you can always think about the honeymoon registry as a subsidy to your honeymoon expenses, even if you do not get buyers for the things listed in the registry.

Lastly, you can use the money deposited in your honeymoon registry any way you want. It does not matter where you go and where you stay for your honeymoon, or if you do not go at all. They money is yours to use as you would like best.

14 Tips for an Affordable but Comfortable Tropical Honeymoon

The affordable but comfortable tropical Honeymoon: Tip List

1. Schedule your departure day two days after the wedding to give you ample time for rest after the activities and the celebrations. If you must travel immediately, remember to leave in the middle of the day and not the early morning so you’ll get a good night’s sleep.

2. Ask your travel Agent for honeymoon Packages, these usually offer the best destinations for honeymooners, not to mention discounts and freebies.

3. Never, ever overbook day trips, you’re not just traveling, you’re with your new Spouse, better save up some energy for the night’s fireworks.

4. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, ask about certain perks, events.

5. In addition to the above, don’t be afraid to request extra stuff, like a big bathtub, a double bed, or a romantic view.

6. Don’t forget to bring your marriage Certificate along with you, especially if the name of the bride is already under her husband’s name.

7. Pack your camera and lots of film; you won’t want to miss anything. You might also want to pack a disposable underwater camera and extra batteries, these are absurdly pricey in tourist spots, and you wouldn’t want to overspend.

8. Mention to anyone, especially in the café or in the tour boat, that you’re on your honeymoon, yes this may sound a bit embarrassing, but some restaurants give extras like free drinks or gifts for honeymooners. This also works for birthday celebrants.

10. If you want an active honeymoon, research and prepare for water sports; the tropics are a great place, to learn them, always remember to consult hubby before you try one though.

11. Stock up on sun protection. The higher the SPF the better, as you’ll probably be spending whole days out in the sun; you wouldn’t want to get skin cancer after just two weeks of marriage.

12. Some travel agencies include island hopping trips, these are great ways to explore, and enjoy. This is especially good because you’ll get a change in scenery, and won’t easily get bored, especially if you have an extended honeymoon.

13. Even if your valuables are inside your hotel room, keep them under lock, and if you decide to bring them with you, always watch out for stray pickpockets.

14. Bring with you a stock of candles and massage oils that you can place inside your hotel room for that romantic evening after touring and swimming.

And finally, have some fun, relax and enjoy youself.
